Doubt it. Apple decided to try to screw me out of a whole top case + SuperDrive replacement on my 2007 MBP. The warping of the top case apparently from my palm resting was apparently enough that it damaged the SuperDrive (never mind that tons of users have complained their SuperDrives failed without this warping being exhibited with their system).

My computer was under AppleCare at the time but Apple decided it was "user abuse".

Why don't you just replace the superdrive? They're not that expensive...and you can always sell your MBP and use the $$ towards the purchase of a new one.

So you have a problematic laptop but its been fixed and is currently working fine. Why not just sell it off and put the money towards a new one?

Oh wait - you want a brand new replacement, for free. Your logic is flawed - a warranty is to keep your machine working, not provide you with a free new unit at the end of it. You're not evil, just criminal. ;)

Yes, let me go and sell my laptop for half of what I would get back from the store that I BOUGHT the warranty from... I paid for the warranty, and it wasn't a dollar. On top of that, I've stated earlier that they've already tried to screw me out of it, let me be clearer; There is a certain curriculum that customers must fall under to be eligible for a replacement, I fall under it, but they're arguing that I don't. So instead of arguing, I'm going to ********** stick it in em and make sure they can't come up with anymore excuses.

This is not what Apple Care does. Unless there are still problems with the laptop. Are there still problems? If they have fixed the issue and this is running fine than this is fraud otherwise, why not try going to another Apple Store and seeing if they will fix/replace?

Open 2x Terminal windows.

Type:
Code:
Yes > /dev/null
in both windows.
Hit enter.

Watch it melt..

Do you really think that the apple people haven't seen this type of stuff before and will not be able to understand that it was indeed user induced failure? I mean I am all for you succeeding but I think they are a little bit smarter than you think

Going to another store may work or it may not. When I had my MBP in for a new battery once, the store employee made notes in the system about some minor scratching on the bottom. I must assume that they made notes on this guy's laptop too and that going to another store, cross-referencing the serial number will produce the notes made at the first Apple store.

So status update for everyone, thanks for all your guy's help. It worked, for all you nay-sayers, eat it. Um, I got the 15" i5 MBP(replacement unit ftw), and am loving it...Just paid for the 4 year warranty :D, cause it so beautifully paid itself off last time.

3 years, 5 major repairs to my laptop (replaced RAM, Screen, GPU, MOBO and Screen again) is what it took me to get this new MBP...

For all those you who said I was committing fraud, I didn't end up doing it, as the last warranty was for the screen going out completely (i'm thinking it was the GPU actually, since I couldn't get the external monitor to work either) I didn't actually cook or wrap the laptop to overheat it, it just happened naturally by me playing A LOT of Left4Dead...either it was just a troubled unit from the start, or there's something to be learned about the quality of Apple's product(2007 model, I'll see how these nice unibody designs hold up)

Hey Mantasis same thing happened to a friend of mine Apple where being total douches and trying to scam him out of fixing his MacBook Pro. So he got a 12 volt power adapter and choppped the wires off and dragged the bare wires [with the adapter plugged into power] across the motherboard, which resulted in a dead MacBook Pro. They accepted this as the 3rd serious issue with his MB Pro and finally gave him a replacement [not before trying to weasel out of it though]. I think its sad that as Apples business has grown that their customer service has indeed declined. In the past year I have more hassles with brand new Apple machines then ever b4 and their customer service was just crap. I don't mind paying a premium for a premium service, it's so sad to see that Apples quality control and customer service are not matching their growth. Get it together Steve and Co.

hmm.. this will be my 3rd major problem, hopefully no issues getting it replaced.. (Keyboard backlight is uneven, no wireless signal where my ipod gets it as long with 5 other windows notebooks, flash is not running properly even after reinstall)

If you break it by overheating it and they don't replace it you will be well and truely *********.

I wouldn't risk it. My 13" MacBook Pro has had some overheating damage (I think) and I'm going to take it in (still under warrenty) and hopefully either it doesn't have physical damage, or they fix/replace it :)

EDIT: Well, glad they did replace it. Hopefully I'll have some luck too.
