This may have been an attempt to fix the missing Skype icon issue, and I have narrowed it down to one section of code added in http://cdn.macrumors.com/styles-new/main.css:
Disabling this section seems to return things back to normal, but makes the missing Skype icon huge again.

Forum display issues with Chrome?
It only started today but there's an issue with Chrome and the forum with elements missing. With Firefox, Safari & IE there's no problem.
I've tried on 3 machines to confirm there's something not quite right. Anyone else having a problem?

Well, I have to say that - physically - it bestows a most unpleasant appearance on the forum, something almost distasteful to look at.
Is this s forum issue (malfunction, or glitch), or is it something that is generated at the user end?
In any case, it appears on both of my little Apples; one has had its dose of updates, while the other hasn't, but the appearance of the forum on both is equally unattractive.

Either they fixed it or it's working on my MacBook...

I'm seeing the same on Safari 8.0.6/OS X 10.10.3 in MBA.
