100% honest non sarcastic question: who is using FW800?
I've got 3 4T external drives that are hooked to my current 2009 iMac. Until last week they were used to store my iTunes library and all my other media. I've just changed over to a NAS but I'd love to get more life out of them without having to degrade their transfer speed to usb2

I wonder what happens if you try to connect this to a Thunderbolt 2 computer using Apple's Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter? Will the extra Thunderbolt 3 port in the dock be able to function as a Thunderbolt 3 port albeit at Thunderbolt 2 speeds for continued daisy chaining? Will the extra Thunderbolt 3 port be able to function as a USB 3.1 Gen 2 port?

Do any of these come with an HDMI? If I were to get the new MBP, I just need a hub that has everything the 2015 MBP has.

It does not have an HDMI port but you can use a USB-C to HDMI cable (or a Mini Display to HDMI cable if you prefer to keep the USB-C port open for power source).

Well, that didn’t take long. I just mentioned this very device not two days ago, while not knowing whether they were going to produce such a device. It was more of a premonition than anything else. I guess it’s time to buy a lottery ticket for my next act of clairvoyance. In any event, it’s on the way. I had the MacBook Pro 12 version of this same box, and I can attest to its quality. Just pre-ordered.

This one is pricey, and I would pass on it @ 299. I have to admit with some others that the lack of ports needed for the new MBP is a bit overblown. I only use a couple of the USB ports on my current hub, and that's only because of the one port on the 12" MB. Even with this new fancy hub, I will still NEED to purchase the damn USB-C to Lighting cable for when I travel.

BTW, other than being a 12yr customer I have no cozy relationship with OWC. In fact, I was a real PITA to their customer service back when they kept slipping the date of the current box for the 12-inch MacBook.

Your avatar made me read this comment in an upbeat Mickey Mouse voice, which made it twice as funny for some reason, lol.

Why are idiotic comments getting so many likes on these forums now? Used to be that the trolls never got likes, now the most liked comments are the stupidest ones

Keeps me from having to spend 5 minutes plugging everything in every time I get to my desk and dong the same every time I leave my desk.

Plugging a single cord into my computer and having power, monitors, hard drives, and numerous other peripherals connected in one shot is awesome.

Are you honestly saying you like taking the time to plug in and un-plug each and every single device you use?

It was just a joke, chill.

This dock should have included a Lightning port, which would be there to correct Apples oversight of not allowing their iPhone 7 included Lightning EarPods to be used on a new MacBook.

However, the the reason it's not on the MBP or likely able to be included on the dock is because Apple isn't likely ready to implement Lightning in OS X, which would require support not only for the headphones, but all Lightning devices, adapters and cables. That's why I think we'll see it potentially first appear on the Retina MacBook update in the Spring. Some evidence points to the fact they didn't include a USB-C charger in the iPhone 7 box either -- basically Apple isn't ready to merge the two platforms together yet. And that's not surprising after seeing the significant engineering that went into its first all USB-C Mac. They likely want to introduce that and get all the bugs worked out before they add Lightning issues to the mix.

i wouldn't be surprised to see Pencil support added to the Trackpad in near future as well, further justifying adding Lightning.

In the interim, I would be happy with a USB-C to Lightning headphone adapter.

Uh, you seriously are having trouble imagining a workflow where you move regularly from a desk to mobile??

When you are mobile very very few users will ever need anything this extensive. The pocket sized hubs will suffice for 99% of people on the go.

As someone who does this regularly - I don't want to have to carry around an extra hub or dongles just so I can read an SD card or connect to a piece of video equipment when I'm not at a desk. With my current 2015 MacBook Pro, I'm pretty much golden. Occasionally an ethernet port would come in handy, but wifi is better than it used to be. With one of the new machines, though, I'd have to always think about what extra dongles or hubs I'd need to keep in my bag - which, incidentally, are going to be bulkier than that extra couple of millimeters Apple courageously shaved off the new laptop.

I don't get this. Why do so many people hate docks? For me this is the best solution available. Come home, plug in just ONE cable and everything is connected to your Mac. At the moment every time I come home I have to plug in the charger, two thunderbolt cables, one USB cable and finally my headphones. Really annoying.
That is because you are not the intended pro type that needs to connect their devices out and about. You are just a regular joe using a 'pro' version of the computer.

Are there any docks with at least two Thunderbolt 2 ports? I was waiting for OWC's dock, and this is not it, I would have to buy two $49 adapters for my miniDisplay port displays to convert to USB-C, that would be ridiculous.

I'm a professional user, and I use docks.

Or no hub at all.
