Yes miniStack STX
Nvme ssd (data storage)
Sata ssd (backup)
External usb-drives (sometimes, not all the time)
iPhone/iPad + other devices.

All new devices use usb-c So I need extra ports.

Also I think I will connect qwiizlab dock, because there is usb-a and card reader. + sata ssd bay.

Max Price is about 300€

The NVME connection on those USB-C models is incredibly slow. OWC's Ministack STX sucks as well.

I have 970 evo plus. 😞

There's a message sent to us by a customer of ours updating us that the Samsung 970 EVO Plus would work just find on an M1 computer. However, we've received so many feedbacks from different customers that Samsung 970 EVO Plus has been not compatible with Mac OS. So, for the time being we're still listing Samsung 970 EVO PLUS as incompatible, until we've received more of the same feedbacks before listing it as a compatible one.

I am one of those feedbacks. I use the same drive. Time Machine is on that drive and I use a 2 TB Samsung 860 QVO for storage.

Ok, So it should work.
I just want to be sure…

I want product what just ”work” without any troubles.

That qwiizlab Dock takes several days and after all.. hardware cannot handle that much data (over 700Gb folder) what I try to restore in my Nvme.

So OWC or Trebleet.. but which one?

Thanks for bringing it to our attention. This really looks like the best specimen of all those Mini Dockstation type hubs (Hagibis, Quizzlab, OWC).

What kind of material is the enclosure made of? Plastic or aluminium?
Does the size/shape match the Mini? One of their marketing pictures on Amazon suggests that it’s slightly larger.

For $299.00 it better be aluminum! It is. And remember that this is Thunderbolt. Not USB-C only. The size matches the Mini or Studio's circumference. The color is slightly off. Not that bad. I guess the lighting from different angles may cause this. I keep my lighting fairly dim in my apartment so it pretty much works. If you're gonna stare at it all day looking for a difference in color and drive yourself crazy over it - don't bother. It works and does what it is supposed to do. I love it. Take the time and love it, too. It - with my Studio - runs my entertainment center. I have an 8TB RAID connected to it's Thunderbolt port with my movies and music. It runs like a champion. It's as quiet as the Studio. I couldn't ask for more right now.

I hope I helped with your decision to buy.

Only reason why I still think what to do is that 970 EVO plus compatibility.

Trebleet support say:
This is quite subjective, but we know loads of our customers were having issues with it. It might give you slow write sleep issues, mind you. =)

eeds are decentfrom their website:
  • [NOTE 1]Due to the limitation of M1 series chips, the reading speed of NVMe hard drives in MACs equipped with M1 chips will be slower than that of MACs equipped with INTEL chips
I guess you'll need to try before you buy. I'm just stating what I'm using and it's ability. The speeds are good. I use a base level Studio with this unit. It is the heart and soul of my entertainment center and it works. I'd show you the Black Magic speeds but unfortunately that NVME drive is my Time Machine. It's read-only.

I still own a Ministack STX. It just sits in its box. Send me a DM and maybe it can be yours.

Okay. I received my 1TB 970 EVO and checked the disk speed. This is better than the Ministack.View attachment 2006269
This is for the NVME SSD or the SATA Slot? My NVME speeds from the NVME that came from OWC look like this:

Which is exactly to the TB4 spec for hubs/docks: Internal SSD speed of 'PCIe Gen 3 x 1 lane' = ~800GB/s.

But the image that you posted with the >2k speeds.. was that from the SATA slot in your MiniStack STX? Or a external drive connected directly to your mac?
That is from the Trebleet hub that I mentioned prior. It is an NVME in the NVME slot. OWC's NVME slot gave me what you presented.

Several items of this sort have this issue - internal storage runs slower than external storage. I think it is crappy that OWC doesn't make this clear and in bold that the internal storage will be slower than external storage to the device. Candidly, I see the internal storage as being good for TM and backups. One might put a music library or similar there.

So, the SATA SSD will have the same exact speed limitation is what everyone is saying, yes? For my needs, its fast enough.. but it is super annoying to have hardware that can deliver faster speeds, and it be constrained by the hub..

@nobullone1964 - you said you were gonna sell your MiniStack.. did you do so? Was it easy to find a buyer? Im on the fence about doing the same.

That thing has been sold.
