3 days until October. One game* left in the regular season.

Can the Mets take advantage of Santana's gem? Can the Brewers become the first club to fire their manager in September and make the Playoffs? What's October like without the Yankees? (That's not rhetorical)

Standings as of 7pm EDT 9/27
AL
East: Rays (96-64)
Central**: White Sox (87-73)
West: Angels (99-61)
Wild Card: Red Sox (94-68)
NL
East: Phillies (91-70)
Central: Cubs (96-63)
West: Dodgers (83-77)
Wild Card**: Mets and Brewers (both 89-72) Who wants it less?

What happened in 2006?? :D

If White Sox and Twins are within 1/2 a game come Sunday night, then the White Sox and Tigers will have to play their makeup game on Monday. However, the result of that game could leave the Twins and White Sox tied. Does that mean they would have to play a tiebreaker on Tuesday?

Go any team besides the Red Sox, Mets and Cubs!
I agree on the Red Sox and Mets but I would like to see the Cubs make a run. Of course they might have to face the Dodgers who are picking up steam.

The 2 big story lines the next few days are, can Sabathia go again on 3 days rest, and can Santana go on Monday if need be. These 2 might be spent before the playoffs even start.

Non playoffs but will Mussina get 20 wins tomorrow for the first time in his career.

Judging by the radar they might not get any games in this weekend in Boston.

White Sox and Twins both lost today. 4 teams 2 spots left.

Hey counterfit, could you kindly link this thread to the MLB thread next time please? :)

Once the teams are set, I will be posting my predictions in here.

op you need to edit you post. and I wouldnt say it was who wanted it less. the brewers with 90 wins are only 1 game behind philly and ahead of the dodgers

With Beckett hurt, Lester needs to step up big. He was the ace of the staff all year. Now he just needs to continue it in the postseason.

I can't think of any reason why he won't. He was the same in game 4 last year as he had been in all his starts up until then. 5-6IP, a few too many walks, but only a few runs.

Edit: Hmm, Collectively, the Angels are 27 of 74 against him.
I don't know how many starts in 06 or 07 that includes though. At least Teixeira is ofer.

Wait, are you talking about the same Lester? That was the old Lester. The new Lester (top 10, possibly top 5 in the AL this year) has gotten his walks under control and is getting much deeper in to games. He's averaged 6 1/3 innings per start, and had 16 starts of 7 innings or more.

Since April 29th, the day Lester went 8.0IP 1H 0R against Roy Halladay (the day Lester started becoming an ace), in 27 starts each, probable AL Cy Young Award winner Cliff Lee was 18-3 with a 2.91 ERA while Lester was 15-4 with 2.82 ERA [Boston Globe].

What I mean was, his performance didn't change from the regular season last year, to the playoffs. So I think we'll get pretty much the same from him as we have all year.
