here's my question: why is everyone rooting for the red sox like they are the cursed underdog and diss the rays as illegit also rans? i would like an answer.

Red Sox fans don't like to admit it but they are just like Yankee fans. Their teams is better than yours and you better like it.

people tend to like the red sox if they dont like the yankees. also, many people view all the rays new fans as bandwagon jumpers and thats a little annoying. if they can sit through a 30 year stretch of losing seasons then we'll talk

I don't think that's true. I think a lot of people whose teams are out of it don't want to see the Red Sox win it all again. They no longer have the tortured fanbase that provoked sympathy five years ago. Now they're winners. And if you're a fan of a non-winning team, you're more likely to want to see the champs go down.

I see a lot of people wanting to see the Rays fairytale continue. It just seems like a lot of people don't like the Rays because Red Sox fans are loud and numerous.

You can bet one thing, that Fox is rooting for a Dodgers/Red sox series so they can play up the Manny angle;)

Peace

Who's "everyone" that you refer to?I'm hearing the opposite..

Yeah, just what I want to hear..McCarver drone on and on about how shallow Manny plays left in Fenway..The past eight years of that weren't enough
Lowe would love an opportunity to come back and stick it to the Sox as well..

----
Terry Francona announced the Red Sox' rotation for the ALCS at a press conference at Fenway Park this afternoon, and Rays manager Joe Maddon later confirmed his plans during his meeting with the media at Tropicana Field.

Here's the breakdown:

Game 1: Daisuke Matsuzaka vs. James Shields
Game 2: Josh Beckett vs. Scott Kazmir
Game 3: Jon Lester vs. Matt Garza
Game 4: Tim Wakefield vs. Andy Sonnanstine
Game 5*: Matsuzaka vs. Shields
Game 6*: Beckett vs. Kazmir
Game 7*: Lester vs. Sonnanstine

He may get even more chances. Rumor has it that the Yankees are interested in signing Lowe as a free agent if they can't land Sabathia. (Or maybe even if they do!) Lowe will be in very high demand this winter.

That doesn't surprise me one bit..If the 04 playoffs were any indication,I'd expect Lowe to have a strong finish from here on out. I never liked the fact that ownership didn't even make him an offer here and let him walk..

Why would Maddon have Andy Sonnanstine pitch game 7 over Matt Garza? Sonnanstine is decent but Garza always has the chance to just pull out a two hit shutout. Furcalchick, maybe you can give a good reason.

garza has a bad habit of spitting the bit one start after a great game. look at his records between his shutouts (and his one hitter vs. the fish) and it's not pretty. he's an on/off pitcher, and andy has proven himself to be more reliable in a big spot. i trust andy more here, joe is making the right call.

Pretty much what I thought would happen. If the Dodgers keep the ball out of the seats, they'll win. If Philly gets home runs, they'll win instead. Really could be a back-and-forth series.

Wow, Nomar's at-bat to end the game was probably one of the worst at-bats by a Major Leaguer I've ever seen. With 2 on and 2 outs in the 9th, the 3 straight pitches he swung at were out of the strike zone. Torre should've left Blake in.

That was pretty pathetic. And even more so after Blake nearly ripped one out in the 7th!
