Package received after FedEx cutoff

Package data transmitted to FedEx

I ordered this on the 14th. Just a couple hours after the keynote. I paid for the expedited shipping, hoping to see it here in time for the weekend. Now, it looks like I will be lucky to receive it by Monday. How disappointing.

Was it BTO or a stock model? If it was a stock model, that's odd... BTO orders usually take about 2-3 days longer though, so if that's the case, it makes sense.

Stock MBP 2.53GHz.

The only 'option' I added was the remote. If THAT is causing this much of a delay, that's thoroughly annoying.

As ridiculous as I know it is, that option alone turns it into a BTO model. Stupid, I know, but that's the way they do it. Either way, at least now you've got an idea of when you'll have it for sure.

That's kind of what I figured. They should have just shipped the damn remote separately from, oh I don't know, within the US?

I guess next time I will know to buy any extra accessories from the store instead of ordering them with the product.

Silly me.

Yeah, or just pick one off eBay. I've got two Apple remotes sitting around the house that never get used, so I figured if I do decide that I want one, I'll just pair one of those.

It's pretty stupid that something as simple as that could slow an order down by 2-3 entire days, when all that they really need to do is toss a remote into the box.

Also, if I remember correctly, didn't remotes used to come standard with most Apple computers? I ordered a MacBook in early 2007 that came with one, and I bought an iMac last fall when the aluminum versions came out, and it also came with one in the box, even though I didn't order one with it.

Yeah. I was pretty surprised that I actually had to order the remote this time as an upgrade. I know my friend just bought a MB last year, the low end model, and it even came standard with a remote. You would think that they would at least still include it for the MBP line.

It still says "In Transit" from Shanghai since very early this morning... The flight from China to Alaska cant possibly take that long

Mine just updated to say that it is now "In Transit."

Estimated Delivery: Oct 22.

GAH! 8 days from the purchase date!? With 2-3 day 'expedited' shipping? Grrrr.

I feel your pain, I ordered it on Wednesday and paid extra for overnight... it shipped that night -- then missed the cutoff and sat there for a day -- then changed early this morning to "In Transit" and my delivery date is now Tuesday.

question, why can't I see an estimated delivery date? It jut says in transit. I'll take a screenshot when I'm at my computer but I'm so confused LOL.

It takes it a while for it to update... at least it did for me.

It won't give a delivery date until it says "In Transit" in the Activity list. I know it says "In Transit" for the status right now, but it will show up in the activity list eventually. It takes quite awhile though. :(

You won the delivery jackpot then :) I ordered Wednesday morning and as of now FedEx is telling me delivery = Tuesday. I'm just down the road from you in D.C. I'm jealous, but congrats.

Same for me...I ordered wednesday morning...and it says I get it tuesday....dang....i coulda just got one at the apple store if i just waited!

so even though i'm on the west coast it still has to go thru memphis? there isn't a regional west coast sorting place?

I am not sure on this one. It depends. it is possible that the shipment could be broken down in Alaska but I don't think they do that up there. The planes probably land, refuel and take back off. Customs clearance is probably done as they are approaching and while they are refueling.
It all depends on how FedEx routes the flight. For freight shipments (not small packages or special situations such as this) the flights can be normal commercial flights that hit Chicago, LA, San Fran, Newark, NY etc. They then get cleared at those points. However, based on previous comments Apple's shipments do not seem to get handled this way.

Keep your eye on your tracking information and post back. I am interested in what will happen with it.

If you pay for faster shipping dates and it does not come by that date you can call apple's customer care service and they will give you a refund. I paid for 2-3 day shipping for my macbook and i just called apple and they will give me $10 back with in 5 business days.

Memphis is the FedEx main hub. Most Express packages end up going through Memphis, although FedEx operates several (10 or so) regional hubs, including one in Oakland.

Since these shipments appear to come palletized, I'd be surprised if they were sorting them by regional hub at Apple's end, so they probably go through Memphis.

How many times does it need to be said: Apple does not offer EXPEDITED delivery service from China. If you paid for next day or 2day call Apple and get a refund. Everything ships out of China "International Priority Direct Distribution."

FedEx has 4 business days to deliver, not including any delivery exceptions. Apple does not pay FedEx to deliver on Saturday, and you cannot pick your computer up at the local station if it arrives there on Sat if FedEx has not made a delivery attempt. Sucks, but you have to wait until Monday. Those are the rules.

I ordered a previous generation Mac Book last April and ordered next day shipping. I ordered it on a Tuesday morning and had it Wednesday at about 2 pm. It didn't ship from China though.

My MBP's status was just updated, when would you guys say it'll be here? Why can we not go and pick it up on Saturday if it gets to the sorting facility? It says you can on FedEx's site -- but you have to call ahead and bring identification.

Can't get it! My MB left before yours and yet nothing goes.... (you sure you didn't paid someone?)
