New name. Same overpriced, gross products.
Searching the Minnesota Court Records reveals some of what may have happened to Pad & Quill as well as owners Brian and Kari Holmes. Understandable if he doesn't want to mention any details in public.I think it‘s bigger than just a rebrand. I read somewhere there were some family issues between the P&Q owners. This “may” be the 2019 issue he’s referring to in the blog post linked in the above article. I’d hate to post something that I can’t prove. But I think there was a family issue. This new business is most likely not owned by both people from the original P&Q. Again, I couldn‘t find the post that made me think that, so take my post with a grain of salt.
I wouldn't. I bought an extremely lightweight "Fintie" two-piece case for my 16-inch M2 Max MacBook Pro. It was good, but I noticed that, once fitted, the lid wouldn't stay open at anywhere near the "almost closed" position. Nowhere near it in fact. It had to be almost completely opened, otherwise the lid would slowly close shut. That leather MacBook Pro case is lovely. Definite buy if I felt like wasting £136.
Michael...“If the Michael Scott Paper Company goes out of business, I will just start another and then another. I have no shortage of names.”

I mean, the first company went bankrupt for a reason...Speaking from experience or just a hater?
Seems sketchy to me... declare bankruptcy; void all previous warranties for items they were actively hawking in September 2023... relaunch as new company with same stuff.
Obvious to me to avoid this company moving forward. Too expensive to play around with warranty bullcrap

I was amazed that such a lightweight cover could do this. It seems the lid on the MacBook Pro is pretty well perfectly balanced. So I just use the bottom part of the two-part case, which keeps it from getting scuffed on tables etc. Maybe I was being over-cautious, but the last thing I want is for the hinge to get loose over time.
I mean, the first company went bankrupt for a reason...
Yes, several. And as stated in previous posts and a search of court records, most likely a family issue between the two owners. I have no connection to P&Q nor anyone there, but I have owned several of their products. They were well crafted. I never had an issue with them. I will say, I always laughed at their warrant. Except for their bags, who would ever keep an iPhone, iPad or MacBook case for 25 years? I mean tech is replaced MUCH sooner. I only P&Q product I returned was an iPad case. It looked great. I just didn‘t end up liking the tape method they used.I mean, the first company went bankrupt for a reason...
Good sleuthing. That’s definitely a part of it. Failure to pay your debts can ruin small companies.Searching the Minnesota Court Records reveals some of what may have happened to Pad & Quill as well as owners Brian and Kari Holmes. Understandable if he doesn't want to mention any details in public.
If the company just launched, then it is not a 20 percent discount. You can't discount the price of a product that has never before been sold. It is simply press-release hype.In regards to the grand opening sale, Burton Goods is offering a 20 percent discount sitewide for the entire month of January.
Following the link and reading the case file, I am sure the creditors of the original debt are not going to be too happy that the owners of the debt put the company into bankruptcy and now opens up a new company offering exactly the same as they did with the previous company but this time being free a debt and free of any outstanding warranties.Searching the Minnesota Court Records reveals some of what may have happened to Pad & Quill as well as owners Brian and Kari Holmes. I see a cease and desist notice coming in soon on their name from Burton Snowboards... They have been using that slogan and the Burton name for some time...
I'd love to buy the case from you. I have not had issues with my 14" overheating because I don't tax it too much and was sad to see that they no longer exist.I purchased the 16" Macbook Pro case from Pad & Quill in 2019. While it is a very nice product, it does not afford adequate ventilation. My MBP held A LOT of heat.
I still have the case, and tried it (again) on my new M3 16" MBP...Same outcome: lack of adequate ventilation.
Really nice product, if you feel like tolerating heat and possible long-term damage to your MBP.
Hey Merlin, I'd love to take it off your hands if you still have it and it's in good shape. Let me know. I presume it is the fold over product with the elastic band to keep it closed.I purchased the 16" Macbook Pro case from Pad & Quill in 2019. It is way bigger than a rebrand. Here’s the court case documents:I think it‘s bigger than just a rebrand. I read somewhere there were some family issues between the P&Q owners.
