WiFi on my iPhone 5 is a little slow. I changed the DNS settings to 8.8.8.8 which strangely helped a little. I've also noticed, well for me, the speed issue depends on how far away I am from the router. So strange, I just want the new update for these bug fixes:(

mine works great so idk. i honestly think its software and its effecting some users. not all bugs effect everyone. probably a bug with certain routers!

From what I've been reading, it's more about the Wifi encryption used, with AES encryption being touted as the culprit

Same here. But a reset of my network settings makes it work on the unencrypted network for a few days till it bugs out again. :(

yep, a reset cured mine as well. I don't believe it's the network type or encryption that causes the issue, more likely something in the stack gets screwed up and resetting the network resets the stack.

I've noticed it's running a bit slow on Wi-Fi...mind you I thought that was just work's free "unlimited" Wi-Fi being it's usual temperamental self ;).

So I broke down and bought the newer generation of Airport express which broadcasts dual band 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz to replace my first generation Airport express which didn't and it seems to have solved my inconsistent and slow wifi speeds. Take it for what its worth and obviously this isn't a "solution" but just additional information.

I did the same, except I upgraded my $79 linksys/Cisco dual N that was about 2 years old, to a powerful Asus RT-N66U router, and also, like you, my wifi issues were totally resolved. Shouldn't have to, but my old Cisco router wasn't that great anyway, now all our wireless devices in the house work way better too. :)

Just got my iPhone 5 64GB today shipped from China and it's having the same ultra slow wifi. I have a D-Link DIR-655 router. Sounds like it isn't the router, but the device. Ugh.. I hope trading it in at the Apple store is not going to use one of my two AppleCare+ claims. :(

I have the exact same router and I'm also experiencing wifi issues at home. In my case I would have perfect connection for about 5 minutes and then it would stall. My wifi would still show full bars but its really as if there was no connection at all.

IPhone5 slow wireless SOLVED

As mentioned by few commentors on this form, i went into my router settings and changed the security settings from WPA2 to WEP. Putting the settings in WEP with an appropiate password key , there is day/night difference in terms of how the ipnone 5 works its blazing fast on wifi (the way it should be app store , downloads, webpage just silky smooth) and instantaneous response

I highly recommend users to check this first stop which is a solid solution in my opinion and in the mean time apple needs to be notified of this serious communication issue with WPA2

thanks all, :):):):):):)

Luv my I5

Hello! Some else probably had posted this solution before, and it worked for me too.

Toggle your iphone5 Bluetooth on, and off.

Did not change my security settings on router or whatever. It works!

I've benchmarked my test with the new iPad running iOS 6 and there's no wifi issues with my iPad. So the problem was neither the iOS, nor my router. Toggling Bluetooth worked like a charm. Try it!

My WiFi is slow at work, like barely a megabit in either direction.
We use some ancient but enterprise class Cisco Aironets that are 802.11g and use WPA2-ENT.
Now my laptop can get roughly 8Mbits using these same WAPs.
If the iPhone is having issues with the gold standard of the network world, something is not right with it.

At home I have a Netgear WNDR3700 running in both bands at 40Mhz with WPA2-PSK.
The iPhone works as fast as my laptop with this WAP, easily saturating my FIOS connection.

We will be replacing our office WAPs soon, so hopefully that will resolve the problem.

It's definitely some sort of interoperability issue between the access point and the iPhone.
Wonder when Apple is going to bother to fix it...

Anyone else having a Wifi problem, where the only slow issue is DOWNLOADING APPS? Running speed tests, internet browsing ect is all fine, but downloading apps from the app store is painfully slow (17mb - 10+ mins). Getting just under 10mbps on speedtest.net via wifi.

I think I'll ring Apple support tomorrow. It MUST be a software issue.

Same here especially huge file size apps. Also when I try to live stream on safari it buffers often and it is painfully slow. Waiting for a software patch too cause some people online posted even replacements have the same issue.

Yeah, I only found out last night that YouTube (app) has to keep buffering on the Wifi also. It shouldn't have to at all.

My wifi issues appear to have magically gone away completely.

I had noticed last week a lot of the Apple login windows appearing, like when iOS6 and the 5 were first released. Since then, its been fine.

Ive still to try my WPA2 network at home, but the non encrypted network has been faultless, and previously i had to perform a network reset daily.

Live streaming is almost impossible over iPhone 5 and wifi,, buffers all the time,, but works fine on LTE and 4g,, weird,,and i do have fast speeds on wifi ,, very strange

Glad to know I'm not alone. Hoping a software fix is on the way.

6.0.1 is supposed to come out soon with some fixes and better wifi support,, whatever that means,, let's hope it fixes this issue

I really hope so, this wifi issue is bugging me. Some said it's a firmware and software issue.

Iphone 5, 32 Gig, Upsetting

This is upsetting. Iphone 5 (32Gig) not connecting to Internet now....WAS working fine (for the few times I remember it connecting)...now nothing. Sometimes it connects, sometimes not, sometimes the dial spins. Once it connects=NOTHING.

Come on guys. This is EASY stuff here. A phone that cannot connect to WiFi? Data plans that are not unlimited.

This is why I am upset. Along with, according to the other posts, thousands of other people. Is there a software fix coming or is this all being covered up in an attempt to get people to go over their new limited data plans????

Also-cannot update via iCloud because Verizon prohibits syncing over the air.
