I get 13'download and 20 upload. My wifi must be super slow cause iPad on 6.0 says same thing. I have fios provider. My wifi is as fast as it always was while using though. But damn some of u with your 80 speed

My phone is on WPA2 secured wifi and I got these results.

Definitely not an issue on all phones.

(Btw, I am posting this on my iPhone 5, SO awesome that you can upload photos with "browse" buttons on all websites now, right from your camera roll!!)

re: Maybe you're holding it wrong.

Wow. No one has ever used that one before. Hilarious. Next.

Well, considering the potential widespread problems with this new iPhone, a trip down memory lane for humor's sake is certainly justifiable. I guess if you have a sense of humor anyway.

:) :) :)

I didn't notice anything at first but I just did a speedtest on my home wifi and have been consistently getting below 1mbps down with around 2.5 up.

I did the same test on my 4 and got almost 9mbps down and similar upload speeds. I believe it's only my download speeds that are affected.

This is definitely not cool. I reset my phone and nothing improved.

Could it have something to do with the brand or type of router we are using?

EDIT: after further testing, actually using Safari and testing the iPhone 5 and 4 side by side loading various sites, the speeds are almost identical with the 5 sometimes being faster. I'm confused.

I wouldn't call it painfully slow but compared to the results on my PC...

But I guess it's a incomparable test because the speedtest.net app doesn't download as much as the desktop version, so it take some time and larger downloads to get all out of the 64mbit connection.

There is more to site loading time than just download speed. The browser may need to do some processing too and since iPhone 5 has faster CPU this part of the loading will be done faster on it.

I had this exact issue. I treid numerous thing such as switching from WPA2 Personal to WEP, switching from N to G or B, etc, with no luck. But I just reset network settings on my device, and it seemed to have fixed the issue. Been about 20 min so far a very consistent download speed...

Save yourself the troubleshooting and get a replacement at the apple store. It is a hardware issue. I can confirm. My new phone is not experiencing this issue.

Did you try restarting your defective phone to see if this fixed it?

Mine worked perfectly when I got it. Travelling this weekend wifi ground to a halt and was the same at home when I got back. A reboot this morning and it's back up to speed. It doesn't feel like a hardware problem to me.

Been 1 hour now, still working perfectly. Try rebooting router and network settings guys.

Im having this issue as well. Both slow WiFi speed, and terrible connectivity. It took about 5 hours to "update" my setting the first time i turned the phone on. My battery life is also noticeably worse.

Posted before, but as a reminder to those seeing poor results...

When you run speedtest, the app randomly picks a server in your area. Some servers are much faster than others. In my area, there are three speedtest servers. One of these servers reliably returns 70+Mbps with 30-40ms pings. Another of these servers reliably returns 30-40Mbps with 100ms pings. The last of these servers returns anywhere from 0.5 to 5Mbps with 200-400ms pings - clearly that server cannot handle the increased traffic it is seeing this weekend. Thus, my results vary from 0.5Mbps to 70Mbs if I let the Speedtest app choose the server. I only get consistent results when I manually pick a server for each test. If your results are bad, pick another server.

Don't jump to conclusions about your Wifi performance before duplicating your results on multiple servers.. Several people who thought their iPhone was defective found that performance was normal when they switched servers.

I've had my 5 since Friday and felt really fortunate to have a great screen & no scuffs.
I thought Wifi speed was fine.

I read the front page about wifi speed issues & thought I'll do a test and to my amazement found the speed to be 1/2 what I normally get. I used Speedtest.net app

I've got a 4s & ipad 2 and so I have compared the 3 devises next to each other in real time web browsing. Results more or less same speed. Tested in different rooms.

Also tested at http://www.bandwidthplace.com/
SAME SPEED ON ALL DEVISES ON WIFI

And free speedtestXhd app from app store
SAME SPEED ON ALL DEVISES ON WIFI

Conclusion for my 5 there is nothing wrong with it!, speedtest.net giving inacurate reading.

hope this helps someone with the 'problems' obviously not with connection problems though

my wifi wont even connect at work. we have to accept popups so i turned off popup blocker in safari off and it will ask me to accept popups, it just doesnt connect to the internet, ugh fail!

I'm pretty sure it's iOS6. My iPhone 4S had great connection speeds on wifi when still running iOS5. Never a complaint. Since upgrading to iOS6 it sucks. Instantly wifi performance became 'painfully slow'.

At home I have 2 wifi networks, in different parts of the house. Strangely enough my iPhone's (4S) performance is only seriously degraded on the Belkin AP. The other one (some obscure Chinese brand) suffered less impact from iOS6.

Both APs use WPA2 encryption. Both were fine (i.e. very fast, at least 15Mbps download speeds with Speed Test) with my 4S when still running iOS5. Now I'm stuck at less than 10% of that on the Belkin.

Still looking for a way to downgrade to iOS 5.1.1...

What I'm getting from the mobile devices in our house from our wifi network:

iPhone 5: 6 down, 1.5 up
iPhone 4s (iOS 6): 5 down, 1.5 up
iPhone 3s (iOS 5): 10 down, 1.5 up
iPad 2 (iOS 6): 16 down, 2 up

Those are averages from a couple runs on both our protected network and an open network.

I'm thinking this is an iOS 6 issue with the iPhones based on those results.

Well this morning I just reset my router and that seemed to have solved the issue for me (for now).

I have been having this problem also. I am experiencing at places I never had a problem at ex. Gym. I just did a hard reset of the phone at it seemed to help. I couldn't stream Sirius and surf the web now I can.

I've been pretty happy with it. My wifi has been stupid fast. I know there is only one result for wifi but I haven't noticed a change.

Also having some issues with iPhone 5 and WPA2 Network at Home

It will connect fine to Network but throughput is almost none.
Have 2 other iPhone's (4 & 4S) with iOS6 no problem

Now the WPA2 Enterprise Network at work has no problems, so I'm inclined to think this is a software rather than Hardware issue (at least on those cases that are being reported like this, as there seem to be other problems mixed in this thread)

I'm wondering if its also associated to a specific brand of router (mine is Linksys), will do some more testing and hopefully this will be a software issue that can be fixed without hardware changed

My iPhone is a black 16g Production week: 36
