As long as the bats have an optional left or right handed mode

I don't think we'll see it opened up to android watches at least not fully opened up. Look at the Galaxy Gear series of watches from Samsung they're not available to use on an iPhone to their full potential.

Yeah but nobody expected those to sell in the first place, so not selling didn't come as a surprise.
