Pfff, this is coming from people who joined in 2008. Most likely you guys became homo for Apple because of the iPhone. You guys are so ignorant to the potential of the Pre, it's like how everyone is bashing the Pre because the App store is handicapped with Apps..

Yuh... like the SDK was available the very first day the iPhone came out. Wow, an app that sends your blood pressure directly to your doctor. I work in the ICU, do you think a doctor will jump at the slightest decrease in blood pressure? You've got to be kidding me. I understand work, school and social life has every reason to be combined onto one device, but if you need your health and how straight you install shelves on your wall to depend on a cellphone, then you seriously need help... professional help, maybe they'll make an app for that.

See attached picture, and call me when the iPhone can do all of that (i.e - give inconspicuous e-mail notifications no matter what screen you are, multi-task, and change the background to your liking -- without having to jailbreak). I'm sure I'm a bigger Apple fan than you guys are, but even I am not ignorant to other technology. Get some insight you trolling douche-wads.

Sure I joined in 08. Have been reading MR for awhile. Making assumptions usually results in failure for people. I've been a Mac user since Mac 512k Fat Mac. I also have a 20th Anniversary Mac in perfect condition. So don't go assuming people are new Mac users just because they have finally decided to sign on to a forum.

You were on here before the pre was launched saying how much better it is than the iPhone. Look at it now. The pre is a joke! Just another sorry "iPhone killer."

The press was really pumping up the Pre like crazy. Even the established tech writers were gushing. Heck even I fell for it for awhile. Then the reality of the products weakness started to trickle in before launch and it was soon easy to see how much of a failure it is.

wow....

um can I make a suggestion?

I understand waying your decision.... but if you really draw this type of chart for this type of decision... Maybe you should go take the $199 and um.. get a hooker

Yeah, likewise, I bought my first Mac in 2001, G4.......after the iphone, can't imagine using any other phone, it's my precious, my second girlfriend, she needs to be defended. jk

The OP did *not* make the flow chart. See the Gizmodo watermark in the top right?

But I guess that's what you'd expect from Palm fanboys -- stealing ideas from others and pawning them off as their own ;)

Are you kidding I was playing with one after I bought my kid the iphone, the camera is crap my G3 takes much nicer pics, it feels like cheap plastic and the interface with the apps is really stupid, The manger was trying to tell me they have lists of people waiting for them but offered me a free touchstone and backing if I buy one... I laughed after playing with it for 45 minutes.. not going to happen.

The thing is, the pre is hyped in every possible way the iphone is hyped.
Copy paste was on a fair number of phones, but who seriously used them? Those phones were probably somewhat old-ish or at least they are now, and the OS would be a bit restricted to really take full control of it.

The way the pre does it is honestly not that good when I tried it, and you can't really use it that well across apps besides native ones.

The way the iphone does it is honestly a very good implementation and I would have never thought they would have done it that way but whatever way they did it was fantastic and that is where people start to use it more often.

Apple doesn't do things for a reason, it is probably because of marketing but when they do do it they do it very well and this has been said many times before.

Your pre can't record video, which my old razr from VERIZON could do.
The iPhone 3GS just got it sure, but the way they did it is simple and it is easily accessed across your phone and your computer.

If my Pre got screwed how would I put ALL of my info back into a new pre that I buy/replace? I geuss I couldn't, because I don't have something like iTunes, which even though sucks, is better then what other phones/companies offer, oh wait they don't....they just copy the iPod and use iTunes cough* Pre cough* ...

Whatever apps the pre has right now in its app store, we had them on the iphone when the iphone was jailbroken, or at least we had something similiar.

Some person made a mention of doing there grocery list while streaming music.

You honestly cant' move your fingers for 2 minutes for the list and then stream music? Even though this may be inconvenient, it shouldn't be a deal breaker I mean cmon.

The pre just got things that other phones have had, and suddenly its so amazing? Which is exactly what you are saying about the iphone... In my opinion the freakin ipod touch is better then the pre, :) just sayin.

I want to have everything just work without having to rely on something from another company or some random program that is buggy.

I have been using iTunes for a few years now, and I like being able to transfer songs that I have had from my first iPod to my iphone 2g, then later to my iphone 3g, then when I replaced my iphone 3g to a new one, again being able to put everything back.

Eh, I just really wanted to say that you guys bash each other for the same things that both of you are at fault.

If someone didn't buy an iPhone JUST because it couldn't record video, then why aren't you bashing the pre about it as well? I mean you obviously don't care that you can have the phone app and notes app open at the same time and dial a number and write a story at the same time (which would be hard IMO) so you just end up contradicting yourself.

The iPhone does everything I need and I don't care what carrier I am on, and if I wanted to get the pre I would have gotten it, but the iphone is better and this fight should have been over now. The iPhone 3GS to people wasn't a big upgrade yet so many people PRE-ORDERED IT, and it is the 3rd gen so alot of people should have an iPhone by now. The pre supposedly has almost a million pre sales, which is quite impressive but I would like to see the proof, I may be wrong but you couldn't pre-order the pre, and we saw the lines already so they probably sold lets say 5000 and are trying to make themselves look better.

If someone had an iPhone and someone else had a Pre, I bet you no one would care that that person had a Pre unless that person is one of the Pre nerd lovers in this forum. Just saying.

I'll tell you right now that you're right. Because Macs are ****. The iPhone is the only Apple product I have ever owned. I have a PC. Used Macs in school and thought they sucked.

And I love my Xbox. Suck it.

Yes the iPhone is WAY better than the pre. However, i hate how people defend apple so much as if they work for them. I dont even think Jobs would defend it like this. I think he would let his product speak for itself...

Just my $0.02

I think a lot of people are giving the pre to much s**t. Overall, for a first gen product it's not bad. The people going on about the lack of apps seem to forget that the iPhone had no apps at all at launch.

Personally, I think it's biggest drawback is it's form factor. The thing is incredibly ugly and very cheap looking.

You're no better than him. You had a bad experience with a Mac. They do not suck because the almighty Sean had a bad experience with one.

Get over yourself.

In my opinion, yes, they suck. Big time.

"Get over yourself"

I forgot I said in my post "LOL LIEK THAY SUK CUZ I SAID THAY D0 CUZ IM AWSUM"

I'm not here to defend anybody or any phone. I just thought I'd chime in about the little "Mac vs. PC" argument.

I have an iMac. I paid a lot for it when it was released. It looks pretty. I regret it because I don't use it nearly enough to utilize it's potential. But I will say that when I do use it, it's garbage.

My TomTom WILL NOT update on my iMac. As soon as I plug it in I get all kinds of errors that prevent it from even being read. I reset it, called TomTom support, reinstalled Home, and nothing ever fixed the problem. So I downloaded Home on my Windows Vista laptop and had my updated maps within five minutes.

When I wanted to jailbreak my iPhone, no dice on my iMac. None of the firmware bundles I downloaded could be read by it. No matter how many different places I downloaded the modified firmware, I was never able to get it to work. Took me a whopping five minutes with Quickpwn on Windows. And don't even get me started about trying to downgrade from the debacle that was 2.0 to 1.1.4 on OSX. I literally almost kicked a hole in that 24" display.

I know a lot of people who will swear by Macintosh to the death. Good for them. They just need to realize that PCs and Windows aren't the turds that they're trying to make them out to be.

That is all.

To be fair, the iPhone had virtually none of these features in its first (or second) generation. Perhaps the next pre will be more to your liking.

homo for Apple

- love it. Is apple a boy or a girl?
