With the stock the stores had they were guaranteed to sell out no matter how popular it was.

And obviously the battery problems aren't related to multitasking when the battery drains while doing nothing (unusual) in people's pockets.

All new batteries have crappy performace for the first few charges or so. Bettery should be trained/conditioned well during early stage of life for better performace overall.

+1 on that. Although I would love to jump on this "told ya so" bandwagon, my iPhone battery life sucked for about a week. I still think Pre users are going to be disappointed if they app multitask a lot and expect good battery life. But I remember a lot of whining about battery life on here at the 3G launch. Give it a week, then we can have the fun.

That's an exaggeration (obviously) but any fanboy on either side of this awesome phone war knows that Pre supplies weren't great at launch so it just wasn't that hard to sell out. Companies do it all the time.

I imagine Sony loved it when people were mugging each other for PS3s. Looking back, it was all for nothing.

Thanks for the tip, I'll give that a try. I guess removing the battery, letting it sit for an hour or so, then replacing the battery doesn't really reset these things.

Nope, you have to do it within Device Information and then Reset Options at the bottom. I did a Full Erase but that wasn't a big deal to me since the phone was only 4 hours old and I really hadn't set anything up on it other then Exchange mail. I still think this would be the best choice even though it is the most inconvenient.

Nope. I believe Palm has always had multitasking. It's nothing new for them. Blackberries have multitasking too. I had a curve that could get instant email, keep aim open all the time, and still get me 2 days battery life.

My iPhone ain't even close. It's almost dead by the time I leave work, same usage as my old blackberry.

As long as there is a good way to manage open apps, I don't see any problems with background apps. Blackberries have a popup task manager that's easy to use and get a quick glimpse of what's running. The pre has gone one step up and made their home screen show you all the app 'cards'. You know what's running and what's not, easily. It's a great system.

Apple just doesn't want to give us mutlitasking and is throwing excuses at us. That is all.

Ok...you say the battery life of the iPhone is bad, so why in the world would you want to have multitasking?! And i think apple know that multitasking would be bad for the battery too, therefore not making it an option. And also knowing they they think of a way to fix the problem and develop something like Push Notification!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

And can people top comparing battery life of BBs with the iPhone. Unless its the storm, BBs are never going to have as bad a battery life as an iPhone because there is no touch screen involved with BBs. So lets stick to comparing touchscreen phones with touchscreen phones. Thanks:rolleyes:

My wife has the PRE.
I have (will have) the 3GS.
Her battery life has been 24 hours, down to 23%.
There is a bug in the AIM & in the HOTMAIL that causes battery life to be drained very fast.
Not unlike the battery problems the iPhone 1 had.
I've played with the PRE, and i'll tell you this, i wish wish wish wish the iPhone had Multitasking like the PRE added to its 3GS arsenal.
That would be awesome, cuz the PRE does a fantastic job at multitasking.

Apple... Let "ME" decide if i want to drain my battery more with multitasking.
Apple... dont make up my mind for me. Give me the option, and i can NOT MULTITASK if i want to save battery, or i can multitask when i need to. Let "me" have that control. Thats what i'd like to see.

That said... we are a split family, as you see, but i like BOTH phones.
No need to rant & rave about one being better, who cares, everyones idea of "better" is different depending on your needs & use of the device.

Anyway... i'm getting anxious, only 4 more days til the fedex guy (or girl) arrives!!

Why should Apple tell me I can't run down the battery?:rolleyes::rolleyes: They don't need to babysit me :rolleyes: It's my phone and I paid for it, I should be able to run down the battery in 30 minutes if I damn well please :rolleyes: And right now I'm at work at my desk and plug my iPhone into my computer's USB port if need be to charge it  so battery life isn't an issue :rolleyes::rolleyes: And push notification doesn't fix the problem :rolleyes: You can't listen to Pandora or some other streaming radio app and use another app at the same time and Push won't solve that :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Yup. They only sold four. You're right on point.

The Apple reality distortion field certainly has you folks sucked right in.

Actually, inventory lists show the physical store locations having limited amounts of the Pre. Some carry a max of 4, some 6. It varies but it isn't a large number.

Apple does not have to distort stock or sales because they have millions of followers I wouldn't be surprised if we saw another 3G event..1,000,000 units in the first weekend

Oh please! You would be the first to make a thread on how the battery sucks!

I'll bet it's related to the Pre's widely reported reception issues. I suspect the same was true of a lot of the initial battery problems with the iPhone 3G.

Can someone tell us how many Pres have been sold since Sprint or Palm won't give us the number?

http://blogs.barrons.com/techtrader...100000-pre-units-shipped-so-far-analyst-says/

100,000 estimated during the first week. It'll reach 1,000,000 sold far faster than the G1 did but obviously it won't break any sales of the iPhone. Thing is, it's not Palm's goal to sell more than the iPhone. It's Palm's goal to sell enough phones to maintain a profitable company and happy shareholders. So far on that front, so good. Their stock is up and thanks to the Pre they're being upgraded by analysts from sell or hold to buy status.

By the way I have used my Pre a lot today and its been off the phone for seven hours, my battery remaining is 92%. I can't complain at all about that. It's not worse than my 3G's battery life was.
