There's no need to be worried unless your hands are greasy as hell. Plus, as someone already stated, Apple doesn't recommend you put one on regardless as it could potentially damage your display.

This. Also, regularly wipe down your MacBook from time to time. It's not hard to keep the inside of MacBook looking new with regular maintenance.
 
This topic is total bs. Anodized Aluminium is one of the most durable coatings not only for gadgets but also in the car and aerospace industry. I work with metal for years and never saw a problem. U can put on nitro, petrol, aceton, vinegar, salt water. There happens nothing

U have the same technology on all iPhones, iPads, apple watches and mac computers for almost 10 years. I never saw a single thread here with a problem like that.
So just cos one single dude on the internet had a problem doesn't mean u have to piss ur pants
