It was fixed in 7B21.

Thats great news, thanks - well, I had already sent the bug report between posts anyway for that and the nested folder problem. I'm sure they always get thousands of people complaining about the same bugs. The bug case number had 7 digits!

Zip file icon

The icon for finder generater zip files where not very impressive in 7B21, is there a new design in 7B28?

Support for pivoting monitors?

How likely is it that Panther will support pivoting LCD monitors?

It worked out fine for me... no trouble at all during the installation/update :)

How well will Expose run on these specs:

G3 700
640MB Ram
16MB ATI video card

I have a g3 600 iBook, and Expose on 7B21 is as smooth as on my g4.

How's QT performance in this build? For me 7B21's performance was absolutely terrible.

It is however HUGELY unstable.

That is all.
What, exactly, is unstable. I haven't had anything blow up. Are we talking third party apps, added hardware, or OS X stuff.

Could I ask what the hardware specs of your mac are?

I think the answer, from the paper tape, reads...

1503.93 -
863 =
640.9300000000001 ?

It should be 640.93 on anything else...

If this is what he is talking about...

Otherwise I have no clue!!!!

CS

1503.93-863=640.93000001 (dont remember how many 0s but this is what you will get just a rounding mistake or something)....

Anyone having problems with smooth movement of the mouse when using expose. got very sticky mouse on my 12" PB

BTW how do I tell what model of video card I have?

I had expose work even on my imac 400 mhz dvse (Ati r128) Which, of course I promptly deleted after a day. ;)

Interesting Screenshots (7B21)

http://www.macosxrumors.com/

MacOSXRumors has a brief article about 7B28, but doesn't really ay anything we don't already know, however, what's interesting are the screen shots they posted for 7B21, which contained some features I hadn't heard reported before.

Date and Time - Time announcement

This is a wonderful added functionality that I've been waiting for for some time. I wish now that they would put in an alarm clock.

Exchange support on Mail

We've all heard about this one. Still nice to see it.

Exchange support on Address Book

No surprises there.

Image Capture sharing

Now this is nice. Look for shared devices, Share my devices, Web Sharing with authentication.

Network 6 to 4

Now this rocks! 6 to 4 is a translation protocol that allows you to connect to an IPv6to4 compatible device, and enables Mac OS X to understand IP6to4 packets, which translates the IPv4 client and resolves it on a larger IPv6 network. The IPv6 network sees the IPv4 client as an IPv6 client through the IPv6to4 router.

Sweet!

Also, it shows in Network a connection over Firewire! Woohoo!

Can you say IPoF and PPPoF? Can you say *fast* networking between two computers? Not a standard yet, but it's cool. (Sure it could be done by unsupported means, but being supported is way cool.)

TextEdit kern editing

TextEdit supports Kernning? Great! What is Kernning? It controls the spacing of your text. So if you're getting spacing related to spacing, you no longer have to fudge with a kern editor, TextEdit has it built in!

I'm so drooling here.

Thanks for the information it's nice to see some of the unannounced features. Though I don't see any advantage for firewire networking since gigabit ethernet is still faster.

Not all Macs have Gigabit ethernet, e.g. 12" PowerBook.

Gigabit Ethernet / Firewire IP

Yeah, not only do not all Macs have Gigabit Ethernet (like the iBook, the 12" PowerBook which is essentially a glorified iBook that Marketing had its way with, and the eMac), but Cat 6 cables are Expensive, as are Cat 6 compatible switches.

Firewire is far cheaper.

I haven't experienced any problems with the movement of my mouse when using Expose.

I did notice that the calculator has a different look this time around.

If you listen to Talisman which the sample above isn't enough to hear you could see where I could get it wrong. I think that even Surfers could have sampled it maybe.

Thanks for setting it strait. Funny cause I have that K&D CD but have not listened to it in years.. :)

At least we have good taste in music :)

I have had odd mouse problems in the past including sticky mousing with 3rd party mice. The only cure I have found is repairing Disk Permissions. Sometimes unplugging the mouse and plugging it back it will work but it never really fixes it.

Actually Gigabit Ethernet will work fine with Cat-5e. You can get it for $26 for 100ft or 1000ft for $100. Last I checked that's a lot cheaper then firewire cables. Also 1394a is limited to just under 15 feet for a maximum length.

I was unaware that Apple was shipping models with out gigabit. For some reason I thought it was a standard across the board. I can see the benefit of firewire for those models.
