Don't bother

Guys, I need to make a decision NOW! Should I order this paperback edition, or should I wait for the next edition with retina printing??

Don't waste your money on this book. Every story in it has been repeated ad nausem in the press. Every wanker who ever heard of Steve Jobs had to weigh in with their stories and insights since Steve died.

Walter Isaacson has written some decent biographies in the past, but if you have followed Apple and Steve Jobs most of this book is old rehash.

The media giants are just working another angle to use Steve Jobs' legacy to suck money from the unsuspecting public.

It would be nice if this greedy asswipe leeches would all just let Steve RIP.

Am I the only person who needed a hot second to recognize that wasn't Ashton Kutcher on the left? Say whatever else you want about the movie or Kutcher but that is a spot on piece of lookalike casting.

Holy crap, just looking at the pictures, I was really puzzled at first. "Why are they putting Ashton Kutcher from the Jobs movie on the cover of that book?" It took a lot of reading to realize that's actually the real younger SJ.

at first glance i thought the same.

i'm so tired of hearing about SJ all the time...

even when there is nothing to say about him, there are still news again and again

just leave him where he is...

and Ashton K. is a DB, it's not paying Jobs a tribute to compare him to this toyboy

I was JUST about the post the same thing...something about the lighting seems off. I wonder if it was photoshopped in to match the original cover.

Either way, I do like the concept.

The might have done some lightning up and/or typical Photoshop things that are done to just about every piece of art that is released. If anything the one on the magazine cover looks more photoshopped to have a more dark feel.

Cool! Thanks for the original source. IMO the original looks better :)

That is what happens to people that have a profound impact on civilization (for good or evil). Everyone else goes 6ft deep and rots in our memory.

Now I agree a hardback book going to paperback isn't really news and still for a page one story, but it's Monday and the MR staff had to post something.

So many funny comments in this thread already. It's nice to see that Steve Jobs is still bringing joy to so many even after he's left us… :)

Whenever I see the young photos of Jobs, all I see now is Ashton Kutcher

Is that a younger Jobs or Ashton Kutcher?

BUM BUM BUUUUMMMMMMMMM

The key is to look at the nose. Kutcher's nose tilts up, whereas Job's nose tilted down.

The two Jobs here are very different.

The paperback is the Jobs that invented Apple and made it initially famous.
The hard cover is the Jobs who had saved Apple from it's 90's downtimes and made it (arguably) the most successful company on the planet.

I personally think the paperback Jobs is a better fit. As most readers want to know the early stuff. They know the recent stuff already.

Yes you are the only one.
Noah Wyle looks nothing like Jobs. But even Noah Wyle looked way more Jobs like than Ashton Kutcher ever did or will.

For those who don't know Noah Wyle Played Jobs in The Pirates of Silicon Valley.

This is a case where the older Jobs was in better *and* worse shape at the same time.

Proving that, despite what you have been told, you *can* be too thin, yuk yuk!

Don't bother with this overpriced garbage. There are cheaper and better specced books on the market that have more pages and a colour cover.

;)

I've heard Samsung's founder's bio will look very similar to Jobs' but will be printed at 11x17".
