An IBM guy having trouble adjusting to Apple?

Who would've thunk it?

I think I see a discrimination lawsuit coming against Apple. They should have provided him cult orientation training, and made sure his Kool-Aid was available in IBM-inspired flavors.

What kind of last name is Papermaster???. Hello people!!!

I knew a Papermaster in my college years. That family name has a genealogy going back to the medieval times predating the printing press.

It is a gentry class name connotative toward those that were in charge of the paper mills. In those times paper had restricted access to royalty, churches and other privlidged individuals. It may sound ridiculous now but back then, access to paper to write script was restricted 'til the Elizabethan times. That brought about the likes of Shakespeare and Bacon's plays.

Later on, the name comes to the now United States of America in colonial times where they continued to craft paper mills. After that, the family lineage diverges drastically. Some say they were Tories during the American Revolution while others dispute that fact.

There are thousands of that family name in America now mostly located in New England and New York of several social classes. I cannot speak for this specific guy but if he has made it into the Fortune 400 executive game, I'd bet good money his ancestors may have funded the early Ivy League.

Highly doubt it. I bet he is taking the sweet severance package and flipping off Cupertino never to see the place again. He'll give himself and family a hell of a vacation this month and be back in the saddle probably but 1Q11 somewhere. My take he will be back in New England.

Did you pick your last name when you were born?

Not in New England, but the top job at HP is open... ;)

Gruber hit the nail on the head when he noted that Papermaster (who was in charge of iPhone hardware) wasn't in the iPhone 4 demo video!

They had the Mac-hardware guy talking about the iPhone instead of Papermaster. That was before the iPhone 4 shipped and all the Antenna stuff surfaced. That's all the proof I need...the guy was apparently in trouble even before all this antenna stuff.

Prolly wasn't in the video cause he couldn't hold his hands like he was holding an invisible ball he was massaging while talking about how cool the product was.
