Is this a bug? I have defined both my "body" style and my "footnote" style in Pages. When I am typing in my body and click return to create a new paragraph, the style shifts to "footnote"—even when there is a paragraph immediately afterward that has the "body" style and the "footnote" style is not used anywhere in the main text, except perhaps for the superscripts. Screenshot attached.

Not a bug but a feature. You can choose which style should be used for the next paragraph. Usually you would use that for the style following a heading.

Erm. Is there a way to choose what is the "default" style, then? There's no reason that my default body style should be "footnote." Footnotes are in the footer.

Nice font. Which one is it?

Format, "More" tab, select "following paragraph style". For example, body text would likely be followed by body text or "Same", "Heading" would likely be followed by "body text".
