I find this discussion really interesting. You all over pay for Apple compared to PCs and then bitch about $40 software to get your overpriced device to run the stuff the PC does. I am glad to have the best of both worlds and the $50 bucks is worth it otherwise the several thousand dollar in Macs even makes less sense

I didnt overpay for my Mac. We must have different values and priorities.

I know what is a little strange - you're (obv) on a forum entitled Macrumors, telling people they're silly for owning Macs and trying not to look superior about the fact that you've saved money (hint: anyone can get money back, but not time).

Right... keep walking down the path of smug, and see where it leads you...

Just to let you know, the speed improvement of 10 over version 9 is impressive.
If parallels is able to to this again in version 11, it is a 43 euro well spend. Not that I like to buy software very year again.

Windows Device not Showing up in Finder

I'm not tech savvy. When I upgraded Parallels to 9 and OS X to Yosemite the device for windows in Finder didn't show up to be able to go back and forth as I'm used to. I used to be able to find windows files from the Mac side and work them from there, but I can't do that without using the windows device in Finder. Anyone have the same problem?
Thanks.

HI,

I just got from few months my Mac, but I was thinking to install a virtual machine to run a decent excel and ppt so that I will be able to operate with these applications as I normally do at work.

Do you advice me one specific of the three programs (vmware, parallels or virtual box)?
I do not need to run really windows, it is just to have decent versions of the suite office since the apple's version seems very crap to work with.
Could anyone explain me which one I should go for?

For the windows version I need to install, can I use the windows of a pc just bought one year ago, or the windows you need to use as to be ONLY for the virtual machine (so not coming from an already working machine, although belonging to me)?

Thanks
