It's not just a choking hazard, they can do nasty internal damage if swallowed.

But hey, call kids stupid and such, Apple should have made it a bit more child proof.
Look how easy it is to open, I can't think of many recently made items, powered by a button battery, this easy to open.

I have a remote that seems to take three hands to open. They made it so hard to get the battery out of it, I really hate changing it, but so many devices could meet your definition of 'easy to open'. Back in the day, my sister used to laugh as their kid chewed and sucked on the TV remote. I was completely disgusted, but she's not blood related so *SHRUG* And her daughter also sucked on their car keys, and that almost made me puke. But her daughter grew up, survived, and aside from a facial tic (JUST KIDDING) she seems fine...

(She also had the Barney CDs on repeat for her daughter, and all of her kids. I'm surprised they aren't mass murderers now! Most cringe at Barney, so maybe that's why the show died?)

A bit of common sense would have told you this, we don't need governments holding our hands.

But, like a parent, you DO need the government reminding people that there are little people, younglings, that don't think on a complex level, and are susceptible to urges injuring themselves. PLUS there are older human beings that just have no sense of empathy, or any social awareness which makes them a hazard to others. I knew someone who thought it was fun to have his dog chase practice golf balls. UNTIL the dog died after choking on one of his balls. People are stoopid. Government's number one reason of existing is to protect the people it governs.

I vote for freedom, not authoritarianism.

Hmm...

Scaramouche is described as a person "who only thinks of one thing. The doctor, who speaks for a quarter of an hour after he has said everything, so full is he of the desire of talking."

So, keep talking, I guess... But I will agree with you. The government is not to micromanage the people's lives, but protect them, and provide for them if they are of need, and defend the nation.

Protecting the citizens involves alerting them to possible dangers. That is not authoritarianism...

Fair enough I suppose. Some on-topic stuff got swept up in the purge too, which seems pretty heavy-handed, but I get that you have better things to do than pick through it all.

 Oh that is sad.

Oh well. I suppose it's a timely reminder for me that any Internet forum just ain't no substitute for real, face-to-face chat, where a conversation takes on a life of its own and you suddenly ask yourselves, 'How did we get onto this topic?'… Well, that's all part of the fun isn't it.
