Lol thanks to the last 2 replies.. i was a bit put off because of the apparent arrogance of some people on here! I asked a simple question and got a load of unnecessary guff about being daft for wanting to lock my messages!

Good to know I'm not the only one who interacts with the outside world :)

It still requires jailbreak, but "App Locker 2" in cydia makes it so that any app (that you set) requires a password before it can be launched. I think this is certainly a feature that Apple needs to incorporate. Until then, use this when you can (jailbreak should be just around the corner).

I have messages that are private and while i dont mind friends/family looking at my shiny new iphone and playing with it's features, im not ok with them reading my messages. I dont know why you have a problem understanding that - its not exactly weird to want to lock your messages for privacy. Im not exactly going to say to a friend 'no you cant see my phone'.

Same here. I want to be able to let friends and family play games and that on my iPhone, but I'm worried about them reading my texts, some of which are very private ;)

Though I agree it would be a nice feature, it may seem that you have bigger problems if someone is that nosy enough to browse your texts than having Apple implement this feature.

So you trust someone enough to use the phone...but don't trust them not to look at your messages? Either ay, if someone is using my phone that I don't really know, I'm usually within 5 feet of them and can see what they're doing. Also, saying "no" to someone asking to use your phone is a perfectly acceptable answer.
