OK, after multiple tries to download BatChmod, I have had no success. Is there another way I can get my old account/settings back?

I'm really ashamed of this, but here's another bump. I usually despise thread bumps, but this is very important and I need an answer immediately.

Not chmod... chown.

Open Terminal:

Code:
sudo chown nickdanforth:admin /Users/nickdanforth

Enter your admin password when prompted. Logout. Log back in.

Well, I did as said, but there are 2 files which give me the message: "Operation not permitted". What can I do about this?

They are probably locked. Are they?

And does everything look normal now?

No. I can't even find them anywhere on the hard drive. I've looked in each of the folders where they are located, and used Spotlight. Here is what the code says after I have entered in the chown command:

Code:
chown: /Users/nickdanforth/Documents/Fxhome/Chromanator Files/chromanator_version.txt: Operation not permitted
chown: /Users/nickdanforth/Documents/windows_version.txt: Operation not permitted

EDIT: OK, I re-entered the command for the fifth time, and finally got a password prompt. Unfortunately, the program has frozen on me, and I've had to quit. Attempted again, and after a couple tries, got the prompt again, but it froze. Is there something I did wrong?

It did not freeze... it takes a LONG time, since it has to go through your entire user folder and all the (probably) gigs and gigs of data and change the ownership on all of it.

Just let it run until the prompt comes back on it's own.

Let's see what they are, post the result of the following terminal commands:

Code:
sudo ls -lt /Users/nickdanforth/Documents/Fxhome/Chromanator Files/chromanator_version.txt
sudo ls -lt /Users/nickdanforth/Documents/windows_version.txt

Also, are these files important to you? If not, ignore the errors.

I think yellow was wondering if you got all of your "missing" files back?

Moral of the story
: Don't F*CK with usernames and home folder names unless you know what you are doing... Oh! and Wrap that rascal!

Well, it's fixed. Thanks all! I'm very happy now, and appreciate my 20" screen more than ever (after working on the 12" PB for a while).
