Just as a FYI I totally backed away from using PoE for Mac as that it turned into a endless situation of additional files added via large patches. I was restoring Mac OS at times when running beta testing using Migration Assistant and noticed the huge numbers of files involved. In fact my Mac runs a lot faster without all those files present. :D

Besides its almost a year later and their beta client never went official, what a waste of a game company.
Ouch. Heh.

IDK if my mac is any slower it doesn’t seem like it but are you talking about how large each new patch is? (6-10gb) or are you talking about something else?

D3 ftw Lol. Only current issue for macOS in Diablo 3 is that you have to toggle the texture settings from High/Low to Low/High once every time you “enter a new game” otherwise the textures of certain things like inventory items will load very slowly. It started happening I’d say around april or at least that’s when I noticed it; perhaps it has something to do with macOS Big Sur. Not sure but other than that Diablo 3 runs great. Just need to keep the laptop cool while playing either via lowering the FPS at times or using something to keep it cool.

That bug's been there for at least two years, if not more. With all the lawsuits, people being fired or leaving on their own, there's probably no one left to fix it. And since the Diablo branch is "headless" now, I'm afraid things will only get worse from here on out.

The way GGG applies patches resembles someone with a leaf blower that doesn't bother to clean up as a patch is being applied. You end up with tons of small files upon files among the many GBs involved. When I was restoring the OS along with Migration Assistant when I was diagnosing hardware issues with iMac that was failing. I noticed that over time the amount of files represented in the game hierarchy had greatly increased over the last year.

D3 is so immaculately clean as a comparison, you can run a repair, and even re-download the whole game, with far less GB involved. (Currently 17.33 GB) A game's storage requirements getting huge doesn't bother me, its the fact that its ported like they are keeping a very fragmented build hierarchy across multiple platforms rather then created the same game to use a well formed client hierarchy that allows the game to be played properly on the platform. But hey it was a interesting game to check out for comparisons, But it's old now, so see how PoE 2.0 and D4 fare in the future. :)

On the M1 24" iMac I use now, the high versus low setting involved relates to the game making use of 512 Mb memory versus 256 Mb memory. Still interesting that the programming goof that requires this work around isn't at issue in area 2 town. :)

So far the thermals for playing 1980x1080@60hz full screen with high GR play (120+) non stop for stretches barely reaches into the low 80's C, way cooler on this new computer then my older iMac with discrete GPU. Usually its stays in the 70's C.

If only GGG had not been so lazy with implementing a decent GPU scheme for POE. ;)

You're making me want a M1 mac @Realityck lol

I don't have the money for it though at the moment and I am also interested in the M1 ipad. Am thinking of getting a nintendo switch for diablo 2

If you’re buying a Switch specifically for D2, try before you buy. When D3 came to console everyone was raving about how great the controls/interface were. I absolutely hated it. There are games that must be played with keyboard and mouse, at least for me. So before you run out and put down the money, check if you‘re happy with the controls.

how would I try before buying? There's no renting anymore is there? Can I rent/demo games on switch?
