re: marilyn vos savant
any iq score over 200 is impossible to measure and is generally not considered standard
it has been suggested that, under the current tests available, the highest score out of a possible 200 is a 220 (kind of like those kids in school now who can score higher than a 4.0 gpa by taking advanced classes)...under that system, marilyn vos savant is a 218 (but the over 200 scores are just guessing)
the highest iq i have ever encountered was this man who had an iq of 188 and he was accepted to johns hopkins university right after he completed the 8th grade in middle school
as it turns out, he never went to college and he told me it was because his brain was so strong on the academic, but weak emotionally and in personal relationships
he told me, "everyone is given a hundred eggs in their basket by god, it is just how you spend them" he wasn't a jock even though he loved sports, he had a weight problem, he had cerebral palsy, he had his interpersonal relationship problems, but he was very smart
he told me he wished that he was more normal and well rounded
other very smart people i have met in my life seemed to have similar inbalances in their life which was counterproductive to their high intelligence
iq scores around 135 or so designates a gifted individual and genius is around 160 (in the test i took where i was 136) and i have seen genius pegged as low as 144 and as high as 180 but all these numbers are subjective at best...my sat scores at 1150 old sat, 1210 new sat, suggest my iq is lower, so in that case, i am more in the normal range
i went to a rural school where intelligence was not a priority among the students or the school system, so i grew up thinking i was really smart because i got great scores, but when i ventured into the "city" where the education was better, i felt like an idiot, not to mention i had no "street smarts"
in life, wisdom has the big payoffs and intelligence is only good for standardized tests
"a beautiful mind" was a great movie and the best portrait i have ever seen of a genius and there is really a fine line between madness and genius
