re: marilyn vos savant

any iq score over 200 is impossible to measure and is generally not considered standard

it has been suggested that, under the current tests available, the highest score out of a possible 200 is a 220 (kind of like those kids in school now who can score higher than a 4.0 gpa by taking advanced classes)...under that system, marilyn vos savant is a 218 (but the over 200 scores are just guessing)

the highest iq i have ever encountered was this man who had an iq of 188 and he was accepted to johns hopkins university right after he completed the 8th grade in middle school

as it turns out, he never went to college and he told me it was because his brain was so strong on the academic, but weak emotionally and in personal relationships

he told me, "everyone is given a hundred eggs in their basket by god, it is just how you spend them" he wasn't a jock even though he loved sports, he had a weight problem, he had cerebral palsy, he had his interpersonal relationship problems, but he was very smart

he told me he wished that he was more normal and well rounded

other very smart people i have met in my life seemed to have similar inbalances in their life which was counterproductive to their high intelligence

iq scores around 135 or so designates a gifted individual and genius is around 160 (in the test i took where i was 136) and i have seen genius pegged as low as 144 and as high as 180 but all these numbers are subjective at best...my sat scores at 1150 old sat, 1210 new sat, suggest my iq is lower, so in that case, i am more in the normal range

i went to a rural school where intelligence was not a priority among the students or the school system, so i grew up thinking i was really smart because i got great scores, but when i ventured into the "city" where the education was better, i felt like an idiot, not to mention i had no "street smarts"

in life, wisdom has the big payoffs and intelligence is only good for standardized tests

"a beautiful mind" was a great movie and the best portrait i have ever seen of a genius and there is really a fine line between madness and genius:p

Okay.......for the record:

On that (above) standardized test I'm a 131.

On Mental Age tests I'm @ 200%.

Kiersy personality test results: Rational/Architect (INTP).

There are WAY too many Psych tests out there.:D ;)

i forgot my kiersy results but i was not a "thinker" type, but there was this one guy in our group that was characterized as a thinker who could never make decisions, and he used to always pause in mid sentence and disagree with everything but could never come to any decision himself

the funny thing is this guy became an mba but i would hate to see him in any leadership position where he would have to determine the greatest good for his department or company...he was the type who would not do something if it hurt anybody so he was not well suited for the job...he would let the ship sink with everyone on board if there were not enough life rafts to save everyone and if he ever got in the middle of the road in the path of an oncoming car, he would definitely be a goner...he also looked like a deer:p

It's difficult.......for sure.

I've applied my INTP personality to developing coping skills. My EMFJ wife has been a HUGE help.:D

Do a Sherlock for "Kiersey Personality Sorter" and see if you can find a college site (college+free). Neat stuff. :D
