well, finally, other people then little spikey. i saw some interesting replys, some smart, some dumb. most of you have missed my entire point and missed things i have mentioned already. somebody said that i said osx didn't support multiprocessing, when i flat out said it did. ilm does use macs for pre-production, why? cause AS I SAID, they are easier to train on and as well, things like photoshop work better, and that's what you use for pre-production, why then, do they ue a pc? here's why, ilm has rooms of solid computers, wall to wall, why, they pack in as many processors as possible with a maya batch render, and let it go. with mac, you are limited, so far at least. square did the same thing, use pcs for the production and post production, use macs for preproduction. it's a system that works well. and as for money, wow, 100,000, big freakin deal man, when you work in the real world, and you are good at graphics, 10,000 grand is a 2 day job, and it's pathetic, 100,000 is a normal average job. easy ****. good jobs start going higher, take about 2 months and earn about 300,000 or more, depending on man power. you get these jobs only if you are the best, so keep workin at 100,000 a year man, if that's fine with you. anyway. personally, i'm still waiting on the final release of 10.1, which i ran off to my compusa, just to find out they wouldn't get them till sat, sucks. notice what somebody wrote, tests are for specialized machines. exactly, i was basing my tests, not towards the 90% of people that are just regular users, i was aiming towards the specialty group, the top notch group who lives and breathes speed. i wrote my article because of that front page i saw and i was offended by it's falsehood. the 90 frames per second versus 30 thing. i just wanted the truth to be known. and for the million of complaints about why 95, 98, and me do not use multiprocessing, is becuase why should they, multiprocessing is for the specialty people, the server people, the render people, the encode dvd to 3vix people. not regular users. is that a hard concept to grasp? i didn't think it was. yes, many of us use both pc and mac, why, advantages to both. i use my pcs for raw power, and gaming, (partly because games usually come out on pc first)all my graphic **** is done on my macs. so it's not a am i a pc person or am i a mac person. these tests weren't to piss people off, i'm sorry if some people find the truth hard to grasp. if you just ran out and bought a new quicksilver thinking that it is the best and nobody beats it a anything, well, you are wrong, BUT, it wasn't a bad investment, they are great for almost anyone, but looking at raw speed, that's all, it gets beat. ok? anything else? oh yes, and by beat, let's look at this quickly. we are talking seconds here people, sometimes points of a second, would you really ever even notice, probably not. other times we are looking at frame rates, if you can see the difference between 78 frames a second and 85 frames a second, i'd be more than impressed b/c the human eye can't even see that fast, so your game will not look any different. stop taking offense to this, if you want, do your research, even visit these places, find out. from now on, i will list my sources, be it websites, books, people, or newsletters. fine? good. if you want something, or question something, just ask, don't bitch,it just shows ignorance. for the peopel that understood what i was saying and wrote polite replies or even realistic replies, thank you.
