First off, I find it rather amusing that the PC he installed in that case will probably perform slower than Virtual PC running on that G5 system. But that's beside the point.
If any child of mine decided to completely destroy a $3000+ present, it would be the last present of any kind he ever got from me. I would immediately take away his computer, his stereo system, his cell phone, and anything else electronic in his posession. He would spend the rest of his childhood either in school or reading books in an empty bedroom until he turns 17. And then he can go get a job and find his own place to live.
He could've easily said "Mom, this is nice, but I'd really rather have a Dell". Then they'd return the $3000+ Mac, buy a $1000 Dell, keep the saved money and everyone would be happy. But he decided to be deliberately offensive by destroying his gift without even using it once. This shows a level of contempt that any normal parent should find insulting beyond belief.
Of course, these parents did spend thousands of dollars on a present without first finding out what the kid wanted. So they're also a bunch of idiots.
I think we should just rid the human race of that entire family. Soylent Green's too good for them.
I agree except for the parents. They could've asked but what a suprise that would have been....I told my friend that same thing though, why didn't he just say something to the effect of: "This thing is beautiful, but ti's not really what I was hoping for since none of the programs I have can run on it yet...besides, you spent way too much on it, I only need a computer that costs about $1000." If I were the parents and I found out, the next Christmas (If I had the money of course) I would ask his friend if he were able to put the G5 parts in his G3 and if he'd gotten rid of them yet. Then I'd do 1 of two things. 1. (Most likely though I thought about it just now

) Ask him for the Beige G3 tower and innards and then reassemble it after I gave him my sons "modded" G5 case. I'd then take the PC parts (ooh have another different idea here

) with me. On Christmas morning he'd be like where has my G5 been for the past week? And I'd tell him that we "modded it" a little better than his previous "overclock" mod, all while acting like I know jack about computers! He'd open up the G3 and be like WTF? I'd then throw the Athlon BS at him and tell him I hope he likes the idea of buying his own Christmas presents from now on! Later we'd go as a family to his friend's house where I'd be carrying a large package. When we got there I'd give his friend the package, which he'd open up to find a brand spanking new Dual G5 and I'd tell my son that that's how you show appreciation for what you've been given. (Besides now his friend's under my control

....J/K)
-or-
2. Do pretty much the same except put his PC components in the G3 tower and leave it on his desk. And then give his friend the G5 as described...
I seriously hope, as I'm sure a lot of you will as well, that Steve Jobs does indeed find out go to his house and leave with **** on his shoes! Then his friend walks by and immediately knows what happened and applauds!

lol, that would just make my day. if only his "new" pc burned up
I actually told me friend, even though it's really mean (but hey he nearly deserves it, well he does, just not his parents

), that I hope his house burns down, or even just the computer itself, and all that is left is the case. It'd be completely empty and he'd finally realize that Apples won't tolerate such BS!
