Absolutely deplorable behavior. He should be drawn and quartered.

Mommy and Daddy have way too much money.

I'll be good money that he got a 360 Modena for Christmas and ripped out the engine to put in a Chevy Small Block!!

I think my anger is more jealousy. I have been saving like a lot of people and to see someone really trash a G5 is unthinkable. Yeah he can do what he wants but the idiocy is to much to bear. It is just too idiotic. IDIOTIC. It really is like taking a Porsche and ripping everything out to put in a Ford escort underneath. Ugh.

Hey Mommy and Daddy, I need another new computer because the one you gave me last Christmas is too slow now.

If I were Santa, I'd bring this kid a pc mini-tower full of coal. See how he likes that mod.

Beyond that, and assuming this story is true, it's his to do what he wants with. If he wants to refill his Dom Perignon bottles with Ripple, let him.
 
You realize you guys are letting this internet genius accomplish his goal of trolling the entire Apple community, yes? It's obviously a hoax... What proof aside from a SINGLE FAN from a G5 does the article show that he had anything more than the fan and a case? ...No. 🙂

If he really had the whole contents of the G5, don't you think he would have taken pictures of the disassembly process, or at least of the box of parts?

Sorry to interject some logic and reasoning on to these forums, I know you guys like living in your dream worlds. 🙄

erm just because he didnt take pics of the entire process doesnt mean he didnt do it. Those pictures were too good to be photoshopped.

Eh who cares. Last night I sent him some flame mail telling him if he waited a few more months he would have been able to use VPC 7, and it would be faster than that POS athlon. Plus ripping DVDs and music (i've done it on both Mac and PC, guess which platform I prefer for doing that kind of thing 😉 )

No offense against athlons, but i cant believe he replaced two dual 64 bit G5s with a ****ty three year old Athlon thats not even top of the line anymore. This travesty, though, is the kind of thing that sorta makes me want to run over Wintel PCs with a steamroller...Ya know the PC i'm writin this on aint too bad...guessing p4......
I really want to know why he just *had* to use *that* processor with that motherboard with that ugly as hell psu with all those fugly cables...
Oh and not to mention the fact that Lian-Li makes excellent aluminum cases for PCs...I have one and I think they're great but OMFG WHO THE **** DESTROYS A FREAKIN $3000 COMPUTER TO REPLACE IT WITH CRAP PRODUCTS THAT COST LESS THAN THE FREAKIN CASE FOR THE POWER MAC?!
 
And the reason he couldn't have bought a G5 case and fan from someone who works at a place that repairs Macs that had a dead G5 laying around is...?
 
What someone does with their own property is their own business...

Why the hate mail and flames? If I want to buy a $3k computer and make a planter out of it, what business is it of anyone elses?

This guy has obviously tapped into the macfanatisim pipeline on purpose, so he should be flamed - but for that reason and none other. No need to get hung up on "principals"...

Because G5s are made from ambrosia and holy aluminum and the chips come from a sanctified chip factory in Fishkill. Really though i'd say since G5s are under a year old they're all under AppleCare and thus they'd prolly all be back at Apple or at CompUSAs.

I'm sure my opinion is NOT unique - but I bet it is more likely that he got hooked up with a case and did this. Unless he is so stinking rich. Man even Bill gates would not be so inclined to ruin a new G5.

This kid should be a candidate for the darwin award - let's lynch him and speed up evolution!

My other idea is to track him down and tell his parents!

There's a ton of ways this chump could have got his fingers on a case... Dumpster diving, for one. You'd be VERY suprised what people throw away. 🙂

Not doubting the possibility, i found a pricelist for replacement parts for g4's once. a replacement case was something like $350. I'm imagining that the g5 case would cost at least $100 more.

so either he destroyed a $3k computer, or a $4XX case.
 
Yeah, and the head unit for my car straight from Acura is $900... but I bet I could get it out of a junk yard for $50 tops 🙂

Keep in mind the first picture shows a complete PowerMac not just the case and also look at the flash between the various pictures it looks remarkably similar in every shot. Also someone suggested that they may have gotten this as a defunct product. If that was the case don't you think if nothing else someone would have salvaged the video card, RAM, DVD-ROM drive, hard drive, before giving it away? Look at the picture. Its a complete system.
Finally while its possible that someone may have found this dumpster diving its HIGHLY unlikely. As someone else stated these units are still under the one year warrantee and if someone spent $3,000 on a system the average person would get it fixed not toss it. Then again you have this moron so....

Sorry guys but move on to the next stage of the grieving process because IMHO this looks like the real *gags* deal.

It's not that a G5 was destroyed it was the reason it was destroyed.

As I said before this would bother me a lot less if someone just intentionally ran the thing over with a steam roller. That at least shows a sign of fore thought.

What this kid did if it's all true is the pinnacle of ignorance.
 
I wonder how he is planning to be able to open the cd drive because in the pictures the cd drive door was still attached.

I must admit though that this is the most entertainment I had on these forums for months (since the 'see you apple - I'm done here' guy).

Just the thought of those beautifully engineered and shiny G5 innards being disembowelled and (probably) sitting in a dumpster makes me wanna puke!

I am saving my butt off for a DP G5 for work - this just hurts.
 
Wow, I can barely believe I read every single post to this point, but like someone said earlier, it IS like a good horror movie. I like the conspiracy theories; some Wintel fan trolling the entire online Mac community and what have you. But ultimately, I have to agree - if real, this kid is a real passive aggressive little 5h1thead for doing something like this intentionally knowing the gift meant a lot to his parents, but that they also were idiots for dropping that kind of scratch without really knowing what their ingrate son wanted. And it really did turn my stomach to see the "after" pictures - I can't even convince my wife that it would be worth it for me to buy a 15" PowerBook, let alone a top of the line desktop system. But I did think the "before" picture looked oddly like the stock photos that were everywhere when the dual 2 was first announced. . .

That's not quite as bad, it would be more like putting in the engine from a Prius or Echo.

While snipping the vas deferens bilaterally would save us all from promulgation of this suboptimal gene pool, a total removal of the orchids (think!!!! of all the means of doing this) would accomplish the task most effectively and satisfy all of our needs to answer this act of heresy with appropriate retribution.

This is surely one of the silliest humans in the universe and he really does deserve to be nominated for the 2004 Darwin awards.

After thinking about this his parents should have gotten him what was on his list and that was a Dell. Or he should have explained the difference because to a lot of folks all computers are alike. he didnt want to hurt their feelings so the next time they see him they will see this G5 case sitting there with no idea whats inside. he did state he had all PC software and if he sold the machine then his parents would know it was gone. His parents should have bought him a Dell. Imagine getting video cards or Pc software what the heck is a Mac user going to do with them? Seems he thought enough of his parents as to not hurt their feelings. Chalk up 1 sale for Apple.
