I need to add a PCI-E Firewire card to my retro Mac build. This machine will be running OS X 10.9 Mavericks

I need the card to have TWO INTERNAL Firewire 400 headers. OR, is there a way to split an internal header via a cable, and still have adequate power over the cable for two devices?

I would like the card to have BOTH Firewire 400 and 800 ports on the rear of the card slot.

Windows XP / Windows 7 compatibility would be a fantastic bonus.

MacPro1,1, MacPro2,1, MacPro3,1, MacPro4,1, MacPro5,1 all have 4 built-in FireWire ports (2 or 4 FireWire 800 ports).

FireWire 400 ports are not necessary - use a 800 to 400 cable. The cables don't appear to be expensive. Unless you want the FireWire 400 ports to test FireWire 400 cables, or so you don't need to buy new cables.

I think most cards have up to 3 FireWire ports. These have one of the ports on the inside:

This one has 4 ports, 3 external 800 and 1 internal 400:

I don't know which of the above are reliable and are supported by macOS or Windows.

If you need more ports on the inside, then maybe a FireWire Hub or Repeater will work. I don't know if anyone still makes or sells these. Here's one. There are others.

thanks @joevt for all the research and links. This will be going into a fun retro hackintosh project I'm working on. I'll look into these and see what works best.
