I think you'll find ped- is the prefix for foot, when followed by a vowel. Ometer is the suffix for a measuring device (thermOMETER, barOMETER, pedOMETER).

Well you passed that test, kind of. Except thermometer isn't literally thermometer because we took it from French. It's "literally" a translation of thermo + mètre - not directly from meter.

Barometer was a mistake of mine. PedOmeter was not. It doesn't derive from Pedo+meter. It derives from Pedi- (shortened to Ped-) and -ometer - according to the American Heritage Dictionary at least.
