I'm glad you like it. I've been using mine since the beginning of the year and it's been great. Keeps the toddlers off of my macbook pro.

THANKS nippyjun!!!!!!!!!! I bought my case and found the same thing with the foamy pieces. I just called Pelican and they were happy to mail me out another sixpack or so of foam pieces free. Awesome review - you were what convinced me to buy it. Thanks again!

Other users - it's definitely a good product. Only thing I can say is I think I need some double-sided tape to hold the foam/plastic molded liner to the aluminum - it falls out sometimes so you just have to pop it back in before you close the case. (There's no adhesive holding it on; it seems to normally stay in place just from the vacuum/pressure differential between the liner and the aluminum sections. I'm not sure why they did it that way but I figure they probably had a reason.)

I just ordered mine as you guys recommended, but have not ordered the extra foam blocks, waiting for the case to arrive before I made the call. Nevertheless, I was just wondering why did you feel that the pluck and pick foam was not as suitable for the macbook pro 15?

Thanks for the review and the photos.

There doesn't seem to be enough room in the case to use the pick and pluck the way you are supposed to. You are supposed to pick out the inner area so that the laptop fits in a foam bed. But there isn't enough room to do that.

The case seems like an open invitation to would-be thieves. Nothing screams expensive laptop like an expensive hard case - which is why I love my Timbuk2 messenger bag. But as long as you're not worried about it, more power to you!

I'm not worried about thieves as much as I would like to have the ability to work on my macbook pro on dusty surfaces, such as construction sites and empty lots without having to take my computer out of it's case. Although I believe the case is an overkill, I wanted to give it a shot.

mbp15" in nprn slv in 1090cc

I know this is a very old thread, my apologies if it is taboo to bump it. I am new to the forum (hello all!)

A question for those familiar with the pelican 1090cc:

Do you think a (late 2011) mbp15" inside a basic neoprene sleeve would fit inside of the pelican 1090cc?

If yes, I am going to order it! I am really excited about this case- a little intimidated by the $90 pricetag, but excited!

I know that the 1090cc case can fit laptops as thick as 1.7". Since my mbp is only .95", I think it will definitely fit inside of the pelican, even in the incase neoprene sleeve. I just hope there isn't too much play. Ideally my mbp will fit snug in the case and not move at all.

I am thinking I may order the 1090cc, and then return if it doesn't fit right. Looking at Pelican's website, they seem to have a pretty good return policy.

I am still very interested in your opinions!

Just gotta check if it'll fit in the laptop sleeve of my bag, then I'll get one.

I want something that'll remove some of the worry I have carrying my computer around all day long.

I really doubt it'll fit with the InCase sleeve. I have that sleeve, and it adds a good bit of bulk to the sides of the computer. If you look at the OP's pics, it's a tight fit as it is!

To the op

@Nippyjun In the picture you took of the case empty, I see 4 white pieces of foam (one in each corner). Are these the included removable/attachable pieces you mentioned came with the case, or were they permanently attached when you first opened it?

After reading the exact measurements on Pelican's site, and carefully measuring my mbp in the neoprene sleeve, I am almost sure it will fit perfectly (may be a little too thin still, but that problem is easily solved). However, those white corner pieces would take up to much room so I am hoping they are removable.

If I could have the luxurious soft material of the neoprene case and the strength and protection of the pelican I would be content.
