Pen Tool in Photoshop CS4 Simple Help Needed

Hi,
i have Photoshop CS4 and I am new to the Pen tool, i really like it but have trouble using it. When i draw 2 points and drag i make an arch, awesome, but if i have just made an arch and then want to add a straight line to the arch it makes an arch at the start of it; is there a way i can have an arch and a straight line coexist peacefully?

I have the same problem, but then I just erase the arch later on as an alternative 😱

Hopefully theres a way.

Option-click the point after you get your arch the way you want it, then draw whatever you want.
