If there was a police report it is on file and when the insurance company goes looking that will pop up.

If you get an ****** judge it won't matter. What you did was still illegal.

Where did you get the car from?

While car insurance typically covers a car, in actuality it covers the pairing of vehicle and operator. If the car is being driven by someone not named on the policy as a known operator of the vehicle, depending on the state, the entire insurance policy may be null and void.

Since the kid had no license, he can't be named as an operator on the policy, so even if the car was insured, he wasn't insured to be driving it.

This whole thing begs the question: what were you doing driving a car without a license?

From what I have seen in my policy and in others is it states it will cover another driver not on the policy drive the car since it there to cover the car. Just it can not be a regular bases. They get rather ticked if you do that. Also you have to be careful when loaning out the car because some times they will turn around and drop you if there is a wreck.

Getting a permit and insurance now does nothing for you since you didn't have them when the incident occurred, and driving without an adult in the car on a permit is the exact same thing as driving without a license, so you're not getting anywhere by doing this.

Likely the judge will see it as an attempt to cover your ass if you get in the same situation again, and not as "making it right."

Your parents, as owners of the vehicle (I assume you were driving their car) are probably responsible for the uninsured vehicle part. You wouldn't have been insured on the vehicle even if it had insurance because you're not a licensed driver. The fine for that can be $1000+, and you might get hit hard because you were in an accident that is automatically your fault. However, YOU risk license suspension, but since you didn't have one, you'll likely get prohibited from obtaining a license. Getting a permit now would just push back getting your license even more.

I didn't mean it for fraud, rather, would the judge see it as an attempt to fix the situation?

prob not since you got caught at a time when you weren't old enough to have a license in the first place.

The judge might consider mitigating circumstances, if there are any, but trying to get a license at this point wont help.
