This problem is affecting me too and is very annoying! I'm running XP32bit and have been trying to get round this problem...using dell wireless drivers at the moment. Fingers crossed they're better than the Bootcamp ones.

Try the ones from the link I posted, they worked fine with me.

That link you posted didn't work for me. You mentioned that you reinstalled the whole partition? I'd like to avoid that if possible. Did you find the problem was solved by updating the sounds or wireless drivers? Cheers,
Alan

I reinstalled the whole partition only because I thought installing Bootcamp from the Leopard disc that came with my MBP was going to do the trick. It didn't, the sound driver was the one that did the trick.

This link doesn't seem to work for me. What was the sound driver you used?

yes the site went down a few days ago I think, a shame since it was very helpful.
It was this driver that helped:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/download.aspx?url=/8658/eng/5.10.4866_XP32_XP64_MCE_2K_V6.EXE&agr=N&ProductID=2064&DwnldId=8658&strOSs=All&OSFullName=All+Operating+Systems&lang=eng

By the way, check how the site was:

64-bit Broadcom driver from HP

For you guys with 64-bit Vista, can you try this:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3650971&os=2100&lang=en

It's the Broadcom driver from HP, version 4.170.64.5

Says on the page it works on both 32 and 64-bit versions of Vista

Thanks!

Thanks so much for finding this driver for those of us on 64 bit Vista! Unfortunately, i cannot get it to update to this driver. The setup runs fine and installs the broadcom driver on the system (including three CISCO LEAP/PEAP items under Programs and Features) but then when i look in device manager the broadcom adapter says "Code 10 cannot start" and is listed as using the original Microsoft broadcom file from 2006. I cannot get it to update to the newly installed drivers, even through manual adding. I can't run the .inf file manually either...

Does anybody have any suggestions? Almost there I feel!

Kyle

UPDATED: I managed to get this driver installed using the Have Disk option and the .inf file, you don't even need to run the setup.exe utility at all (which installs 3 Cisco tools as well) and so far iTunes skipping is non-existent. Certainly much better. This is the latest driver out there so far for vista 32/64 bits so it seems.

incidentally, i couldn't connect to a Belkin N1 wireless router using the old driver (the Boot Camp one) so i'll try that again with this new one and hope that this is solved too.

Great, so it looks to work with using "Have Disk"?

I have a new Penryn 2.4 but haven't put Vista on it yet. I have 4GB RAM and 320GB HDD upgrades coming soon along with a free copy of Vista Ultimate 32/64 from the Windows Feedback deal arriving also and I def want to put 64 on w/no weird issues.

Is this the only driver you've had to mess with?

Thanks!

Gah. I've had no luck finding newer XP drivers. I may have to reinstall everything and hope for the best.

Use the one I posted, as far as sound (and that was the only problem I was having) that one worked perfectly for me.

Hi wersk, I tried those intel drivers...but they didn't install saying I didn't have the appropriate hardware. They are listed as Intel® Desktop Board D945GTP drivers? The problem is almost completely resolved by disabling the Broadcom adapter making me think it is the culprit. Do you think it could be a conflict between the Broadcom driver and the one you posted? Thanks for your help by the way.

well that's the thing, some people say that there are conflicts with the wireless drivers, my problem and it seems to be my problem alone, was only with the sound driver, disabling the wireless card didn't help at all, the only solution I found was installing that sound driver and now XP works flawlessly (as far as any windows can, hehe). But from that site the only driver I installed was the sound driver, the rest of the drivers were the ones from Bootcamp from my MPB Leopard disc.

Again, here's the link: http://tinyurl.com/zmvop

I'm sorry you're still having problems man.

Hey RHMMMM,

the sound issue seems almost perfect now. i'm not sure if i heard a blip during an album playback or not, if so it was tiny and only once across 3-4 tracks, so i think the newest driver for broadcom (installed using Have Disk, yes) works.

the only other issues with vista via Boot Camp are:

1. no tapping on the trackpad to left OR right click (either way you have to use the button)

2. the iSight camera is far too zoomed in when using it in windows live messenger. however it's fine on Yahoo, Skype, MSN alternatives.

there are no fixes to these two issues yet as far as i can tell.

(sorry if this isnt relevant to this thread, was just trying to help out!)

Xp Sp3

Just installed the latest version of XP SP3 (RC2). Only messed around for a while but the problem seemed to be gone. Will test it out more later but pretty promising.

yes apparently xp sp3 shows no problem or is fixed with just the sound driver.

I'm still having problems - slight skips every once in awhile. Realtek just released new drivers (1.90) but that skips worse for me than 1.89 so I did a system restore. I'm not sure what else to try.

I did end up purchasing a Driver Agent account and seeing if they could help me. The stupid thing says I have outdated drivers for some Intel ICH8M devices, but the driver it supplies doesn't change anything (I checked in the Device Manager and I'm still using the same 2006 drivers from Microsoft that I was before). So another dead-end.

The wireless is fine now - those Broadcom drivers I linked to fixed that problem. With those installed, the level of skipping with wireless on is the same as the level of skipping with the wireless chip disabled. So now it's just audio driver or chipset driver problems left I guess.

Hi wesrk (or anyone that has tested this)-

I just want to be clear - is the driver found at the link below for use with the new Penryn MacBook Pro's (Released 2/26/08)?

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/con...All&OSFullName=All Operating Systems&lang=eng

Don't want to make the problem worse. Recording and playing back audio on the windows side is already next to impossible with all of the noise and skipping.

Oh, forgot to mention - I'm on XP SP2.

Thanks.

That is the one I downloaded and the one that worked for me. After that, I've had zero problems while using XP through Boot Camp. I am also using XP with SP2. My Macbook Pro is the Penryn model and I bought it on February 27th of this year (1 day after they were updated).

Let us know how it goes.

Also, I installed Boot Camp using the disc that came with my Penryn MBP.

Did not work

It wouldn't install. I keep getting this message:

Device Object not present, restart the system and run setup again.

Is there something special I need to do, other than running the installer?

I did run the installation of boot camp off the disk that came with it, but I updated the audio drivers to the latest realtech drivers when I discovered the problem. Should that matter?

The first time I installed the Realtek drivers I kept having problems, then I did a clean re-install of XP and after that I went to the Intel drivers (provided in a post here at macrumors), and it's been perfect since.
Basically when I tested the Intel drivers I had nothing installed (no other drivers that is) except Boot Camp...

Can you explain?

But Bootcamp installs Realtech drivers. Are you saying you installed the drivers over the Realtech drivers, or that you uninstalled the audio drivers that boot camp added, and then used the drivers at that link.

Can you give a step by step what to do, assuming you have just installed Bootcamp with XP SP2? What do you do to set up the audio drivers?

Thanks.

I'm saying I didn't update any drivers. If you just installed Boot Camp with XP SP2, and have not updated any drivers (basically you just installed Boot Camp and that's it), now just install the Intel drivers, reboot at the end when it asks you to, and that's it. That's what I did.

Now, I want to tell you what not to do, the first time I did this, I tried many solutions, update drivers, disabling, reinstalling Boot Camp, etc., nothing worked, probably not a good idea to have done all of that the same day. Then I used my old Leopard disc to install Boot Camp again (fresh install of XP), updated the drivers again, then I tried the Intel drivers, no luck.

Final install was after spring break, back at home, using the Penryn Leopard disc for Boot Camp, no updating drivers this time, then the Intel drivers and that was it. Let me know how it goes.

I'll give it a shot

"I'm saying I didn't update any drivers. If you just installed Boot Camp with XP SP2, and have not updated any drivers (basically you just installed Boot Camp and that's it), now just install the Intel drivers, reboot at the end when it asks you to, and that's it. That's what I did."

Well, I rolled back my audio driver today, and I'll see if that allows me to install the drivers you suggested. If that doesn't work, I'll have to do a complete reinstall of XP with boot camp and try it your way - But it will have to wait a few weeks. I have to do some traveling between now and then.

So you think updating the drivers cause the drivers you used to become incompatible with the system? That seems odd, but hey, I've seen odder things.

I just wish Apple would step up on this. If you're advertising that Windows runs on a mac, even if you aren't going to actually support that OS, you better make sure the 2 core components of interacting with a computer (audio and video) actually work!

Thanks again for your time and input.

Aharon

Sure mate, no problem. And I know how you feel, I was also struggling for more than a week before I finally got it right. I am not sure of the updates drivers created some conflict with the Intel audio drivers, but that's really all I can think. I basically did the same thing twice, one using my old Leopard disc for installing Boot Camp and another time using the most recent disc I had, and only after using the most recent did it work... installing xp takes little time really, you can be done in like 20-25 minutes.

Let us know how it goes, and good luck!
