Although I’m keeping my new iPhone 16 Pro Max, the ones saying they are returning and keeping their 15, 14, 13 etc. because it works perfectly fine is a good thing right. I remember years past where upgrading was almost a must because of a design flaw of the previous generation. Im on the AT&T Next Anytime so definitely worth it for me.

I hope they get the message that making the regular Pro model larger was a mistake. The size of the 15 Pro is really nice. They could have made it even smaller while keeping the same display size with the smaller bezels. Or kept the same size and increased the display size a little bit. But nooo lets make a larger heavier phone that feels worse in the hand again similar to the 14 Pro. Sending it back saves me loads of money though. 😂

I think there’s two different camps here, I’ve owned every previous iPhone going back to the iPhone 4 and when I got the 15 Pro Max never once did say, “oh my God this phone is so much lighter than the 14” it just never crossed my mind. I’m definitely in the camp of I would rather have a bigger phone and much better battery life than sleak and slimmer. That actually is one of the complaints about the new Apple Watch series 10, the fact that they made it slimmer without any real battery improvements.

They can do all that with the Pro Max and Ultra models, but the regular Pro should be a one-handed device.

I agree that there are definitely two different points of view at work there! I don’t mind having to charge my phone every night, but I don’t want it to feel like a brick in my hand. I wish they’d use aluminum again on all the phones, and keep them as thin and light as possible.

I absolutely love the new AW because of how light it is on my arm. To get a bit more screen with a lighter weight is awesome, and it doesn’t matter to me if I have to put it on the charger while I sleep, or for 30 minutes while I bathe if I want to use it for sleep tracking.

Everyone definitely has different priorities and they seem pretty evenly split between those who want lightweight, non-bulky, and those who want battery that lasts for days.

I have to say, I had a 14PM for the past two years, and picking up my nephews 15PM by accident one day (similar cases) I did immediately know it wasn’t mine by the weight alone. The 16PM isn’t so drastic, but it is still noticeably lighter, which is amazing as it’s only 15g difference or something like that.

Apple should have a restocking fee for all these people that buy the phones to play with them and return them.
They knew what it was before they bought it and never had any intention of keeping it.
That's why there are display units at the store.
Agree 100%. People know what they're getting when they buy the phone - all the specs are available in reviews and on Apple's website itself. It seems like there's a contingent who buy it just for the buzz, then return it after they've had their fun fondling and playing with it (and posting about it on forums/social media, of course).

"Sure, we'll absolutely accept your return - but unless it's defective, that'll be a 20% restocking fee."

Why are people in here defending the richest company in the world? Poor, poor Apple. Also some of those people who buy the phone just to check them out will actually keep them, so Apple sells more phones due to this, not less.

I think the reason people do it is as much as they do is BECAUSE of Apple’s policy. I’m sure if it was affecting their bottom line terribly, they’d change it.

I definitely had a period where I returned a few devices - just could NOT make up my mind until I had real world use - not connected by a cable. But I think in 25 years of buying/owning Apple products, I’ve probably returned 7-8 items (and that is including some watch bands because in store they fit due to being stretched and when I got them they were just too dang tight).

It's the bragging about it that gets me. "I brought it but now I'm sending back! Go me!!!"

Why are you even reading this forum then? Of course people will report their issues with their new device that they checked out. And if it’s so bad that they decided to return the device. It‘s good info for people on the fence too. I‘m sorry if it hurts your feelings.

Definitely understand, for instance I have owned my Apple Watch Ultra since its launch and this year I wanted to upgrade it. When I realized that the new AWU 2 for this year made no changes to last besides coming in black I seriously entertained getting the Apple Watch 10 titanium black but two things stopped me. When I realized that the battery life was only half of the AWU2 and there are days when even my AWU1 can barely make it to 7 pm ( use it for 6 mile runs etc) and get up around 2:30 am, and then thinking about how my last regular Apple Watch would always die around 6 pm, I just couldn’t make that jump. The other factor was the glossy Titanium just doesn’t look appealing. I wish they would have gone with a Matte finish.

Some people in this forum likely have Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Seeking validation, attention and justification for their decisions to get the latest iPhone to "impress" others. I'm sure 99% of average people who don't frequent these forums don't give a you know what whether you returned the Desert Titanium 1 TB 16 Pro Max or not.

I think what people get mostly frustrated with is not someone that bought it to genuinely keep and then decided to return it because of the issues. It’s the people that buy it knowing that they really don’t want that item just to test it out and return and then report it on here.

The EU will likely say it’s anticompetitive that Apple has a no hassle return policy as it makes folks more likely to try out and potentially keep an iPhone. As a result, they’ll force them to have a more onerous process.

Hope that’s something they keep in the EU. :) /s

100%

I bought the Apple Vision Pro to keep on launch day with all the reviews and ads.

I even started the US pre-order & delivery thread:
https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...rs-orders-and-delivery-status-thread.2416199/

Had every intention to keep it but came to believe that it's:
  • way too heavy on my face
  • uncomfortable for more than 15 minutes
  • did not display dual screens on my Mac Studio
  • battery life is poor
  • would not answer my iPhone when it rang
  • could not make a phone call with the AVP on your head

So you bought a regular Pro and are sending it back? Cause I'm hard pressed to notice the size difference myself. Yes, sure, if you keep them side by side...
Also: why did you buy it if you knew it was 'heavier and larger'??? Why not wait a bit and try it out in a store before buying? I don't get it...🤷🏻‍♂️

The 15PM is actually quite a bit lighter than the 14PM!

Some people are returning because they think there are flaws in the 16 Pro though. So far there's screen too big, bezel too small, camera control finicky, screen brightness issues, screen sensitivity issues, etc. Some are manufacturing defects, some are preferences in design. Not everything are outright flaws. But no, not a flex.

Yes, definitely agree, but like you said, most people that are returning it are doing so because of their own preference. The good thing about this is at least from what I’m seeing on this forum is most of them are going back to their previous iPhone, which means that they believe their iPhone that they have now is still a great device. Apple is never going to please 100% of their customers. I myself don’t mind a chunkier phone if it’s going to bring much better battery life and a bigger screen. I know there are people out there that would much prefer getting a more compact device, maybe next year Apple can release an iPhone 17 ultra edition for people like me And let the pro devices get smaller.

Yes. It took a few days of actually using the device and then switching back to the old one to figure out that it bothers me way more than I anticipated. I also thought the color would grow on me but it didn’t. I had already made a deal with my friend who wanted to buy my old phone, so I really tried to like the new one. Amazon will have to sell the device for a few bucks less but I guess they will manage. It‘s not something I would have figured out in a store using it for 10 minutes.

That's a very subjective opinion.

I love my 16 Pro - coming from the 14+ which was larger but harder to handle one handed.

16 Pro has the features I need and love the slightly larger screen over the 15 Pro.

We are all entitled to have an opinion....

If I had skipped the 15 Pro I would likely feel the same. I just find it stupid that Apple keeps changing sizes all the time just for newness sake. They just had a major redesign (their words) with the 15 Pro and made it smaller, lighter and more comfortable than the 14 Pro and 1 year later they are already going up in size again making it less comfortable to hold. Of course 100 % subjective.
