I do it in more formal emails. My school email also has my Major and contact info listed in a preset signature as I'm often emailing recruiters.

I sign my name in more formal e-mais, or anything related to work. If it's just a one off comment to a buddy or something, or a more conversational like e-mail, I'll omit the signature.

It shows how the digital age has distorted our penmanship.

I got a text from my Dad the other day that said, "When r u coming 2 town?" He works in the tech industry, and claims that using shorthand is commonplace these days, even among adults. I don't know that I buy that, but then again I've been out of the tech field for over a decade now. He's pushing 60 years old, btw.

I told him to text me again when he's done communicating like a teenager. Perhaps I'm just getting old, but I swear, I think the writers of Idiocracy got it right.

Maybe that explains it all. Perhaps someone e-mailed Joe Paterno to tell him that Sandusky was ****ing a kid in the shower, JoePa didn't know who it was from so he couldn't follow up for more details and dropped the issue. Simple mistake!

HAHAHA... that made me laugh. Nice one. :D:D:D

I usually sign my name for most emails that are informal. I have a signature that I use especially at work that has the title and unit I work for.

I don't mind them.

You wouldn't believe how many people spell my name wrong, even when I have my name right there at the end of the email.

I can believe it. I often have people pronounce my name incorrectly because even though it looks strange, they try to pronounce it phonetically rather than asking.
