I know this was mentioned during the keynote, but I'm shocked to notice it this early in the beta cycle. Usually we're close to RTM/GA before the performance improvements show in a meaningful way. But macOS 27 B1 on my 16" M4 Pro MBP w/ 48GB feels extremely smooth and responsive across everything.

Amazing work by Apple on this front.

How is performance for you all?

I don't feel much of a difference between the beta and my Tahoe partition on my MBP M1 Max. It is definitely MUCH smoother and snappier than the early betas of Tahoe.

This is great to hear they were telling the truth about it already! Anybody have any comparisons yet between Sequioa and Tahoe and Golden Gate? I never updated to Tahoe.

How smooth are the UI animations? Specifically Mission Control? It was horrible in Tahoe 🙁
For me, butter smooth and instant.
Beta software isn’t going to be fast.
Yeah, that's what shocked me about it. I was expecting the normal beta slowdown that is par for the course until GA. But this is extremely fast for me. Stuck out.

It is nice too as if the beta is this performant it is very likely that the fall release will be a lot better overall which is good news for everyone. It aligns with what they said during the keynote. That they put a focus on performance and nothing was too small. It all adds up of course.

They have definitely changed the animations and windows. It is on my old M1 MAX noticeable, very noticeable. It is like instant, even app launches.

I have some wifi intermittent issues and reported to the feedback assistant but clearly isolated to the wifi. The main desktop is so good that I don't want to go back 😛

Running great on my M1 MacBook Pro. I did an erase and install today, not because of any performance issue with the beta, but there'd been a lot of 'cruft' left over from this machine, so just wanted to start fresh.

Here on the M1, performance has improved dramatically, even though it's the first beta.

I use a 4K monitor and the M1 can reach a resolution of up to 3072x1728 in HiDPI. Up until Sequoia, I could choose that resolution and not notice any performance drop. On Tahoe it was impossible, I had to stay at 1920x1080 HiDPI to avoid the risk of the computer freezing during certain tasks.

Now on Golden Gate, Sequoia's performance is back in full force! I can once again use scaled resolutions without noticing any performance loss. The clearest example of the performance loss in Tahoe was when using my Wacom tablet with Photoshop, it was impossible to use a resolution other than 1920x1080 because the system delayed the brush. This no longer happens in Golden Gate, I can even use 3072x1728 HiDPI (6144x3456) again, just like in macOS 15.

Definitely more stable and polished than the Tahoe beta was at this stage for me. M1 Mac Studio. I have noticed a few things, most/all could be attributed to 3rd part software, but overall it seems pretty good.
I do wonder as I experience some slowdowns here and there if this is simply the fact my M1 might finally be showing a bit of age, or if these are things with this beta, or Tahoe. Unclear
I am using it as the main OS right now, whereas I didn't feel comfortable with that at this stage of Tahoe

How much RAM do you have?
Good question...I too considered it for the reason.

I have noticed improvements on my M1 MacBook MAX 2021 with 32GB RAM. The latest Tahoe version seemed to get better regarding M1 performance, but the first beta of macOS Golden Gate it is indeed promising. I hope it is not just "throwing a bone" to us M1 users and forget about us going forward and call it a day for M1.

When macOS Tahoe first official launch came, the graphics and performance was so poor I was a little grieved and kept going back and forth with macOS Sequoia and macOS Tahoe for almost a year (first time in my long run with macOS - usually just a few versions in the past until staying on the latest OS).

Look forward to the official launch in the fall.

How is stage manager on golden gate? On Tahoe with more than around 10 apps open it stutters (when using stage manager enabled) even to go into Mission Control. This is an M series MacBook and shouldn’t have this type of problem.

I had to roll back to Sequoia because of stuttering mission control. I use it very often for multi tasking and just can't stand the frame drop. From some of the review on Youtube, look like it's smooth again but the animations are weird and slow.
