I'm sure there's a way, maybe use outlook on my Mac and PCs but I just haven't had the time or energy.

I have Office 365 on everything I use Android phones, mac, PCs, iPads, and Android tables. I can access all of my email, schedules, documents, etc. from everywhere on all devices. Very nice.

I'm not doubting that you can do that, but the issue for me, I'm mostly on iCloud which works rather nicely in that it all syncs up nicely with my iPhone, MBP, iMac. When I boot my iMac into Windows or use my SurfaceBook then I lose out. I suppose I can switch to Outlook but right now I'm not sure.

I'm relatively new to the Macbook Pro, but have had the iphone for many years now.

I love the seamless and smooth integration between both devices, and their excellent retina screens. It's so easy to access photos, text messages and other apps across both devices.

iCloud is also an excellent way to backup my iPhone and hold files in the cloud. I haven't yet tried to backup my Macbook Pro using iCloud, so I don't know if that's possible to do.

I love the experience of using my Macbook more than I do the iPhone. The quality is amazing, and it's great to be able to use the device and do stuff without worrying about constant updates, laggy performance, and spyware etc. I love the operating system too! Even the font rendering on Apple devices, to me anyway, is miles ahead of Windows! Even with Windows 10, my eyes seem to prefer the font rendering of iOS and macOS.

I don't miss Windows at all, and don't feel the need to use Linux so much now.

I'm enjoying learning XCode too, what a great learning environment! Apple provide great free learning resources too.

So overall, I'm happy!

A lot of iCloud stuff works on windows too. Biggest thing I personally miss is sending / receiving sms/imessages from the computer.

We use both iCloud and Office 365 in our household. The one thing that one drive does a lot better than iCloud is shared folders between users. iCloud just can't do what we need / want there, unfortunately.

That's a cool gee-whiz sort of feature but I do wonder if only a handful of people use it

I use it to paste from Photoshop directly into Procreate and vice versa. A very amazing feature.

My only problem with it is that it's not consistent. Even though I have a good wifi network, sometimes the paste is slow, or doesn't register at all.

I had the same issue with continuity, when I wanted to open Safari links from one device on another, however, it would seem Apple improved this greatly. I hope they do the same with universal copy-paste.

An Empty wallet :p

The integration between them all is great, though you have to commit to the ecosystem, and once you get in, its not easy to get out.

Another perk?

My MBP doesn't forget what resolution is built into its own display like my Win10's work laptop does.

It also doesn't forget how to use its speakers unlike what my Win10 work laptop did this morning.

So what mail app are you using for windows ?

Outlook is bundled and synchs with Icloud for windows as does your bookmarks etc etc with IE or edge

I have an Apple email account and have always used it to synch across all my devices. You can still keep and use your Icloud as your primary source :)

It has some very nice potential tbh. For instance when I want to transfer a long link from my iPhone/iPad to my mac to work with it more comfortably. Or copying text with apps that either can''t use continuity or don't have OS X counterparts (I often do it with sending people links via WhatsApp on my phone). Or (and this is a really cool one) — copy an image on a Mac and then paste it on the phone etc. etc. It was also a surprise to discover that it also works between different macs! I used it extensively when benchmarking two computers :)

I do the same with whatsapp other than there is no need to use your phone at all just install WhatsApp on your Windows or MAC laptop. Its actually very nice to use whatsapp on your laptop far more convenient for complex or lengthy chats :)

I really do not really subscribe to this ecosystem, sure it's nice its there and other than answering your phone currently where you only get missed calls notifications, the same exists on other systems, Yes we can say Apple make it native and a little easier to implement but none of them are show stoppers

I get it that there are some niche cases eg where the whole family uses FaceTime but this means every member has to have 2k laptops and 1k phones  etc

A lot of hype over very little IMO

I was more referring to iTunes for content that is shared across all your devices . iCloud backup etc

Some people have a lot invested into content / apps

Sorry was not meant as a criticism :)

Just clearing my chest :D

Not used ITunes in ages thankfully but should be ok for Win10 for most content

By no means , I agree with you :) I myself have not invested heavily in content and also I agree with you in relation to the integration with the hardware .

And the way things are going I'm already in a transition plan, next computer will be a PC to replace my Mac Pro

what are the best perks of having an macbook pro and iphone apple watch and tv ?
the only thing i know if that i can facetime from my mac and send text message and anything else i can do?

For me it's that it just works. With PC the updates can take long, sometimes it gets really really slow, etc.

My mac almost always just works. It gets the job done. It's reliable, at least mine is. Touch wood. Not much maintenance.

^Almost word for word my sentiments right there in the previous post.

There was a time about 20 years ago when I felt I needed to tinker with and take apart everything, but those times are long gone and that's why I've been using Macs for as long as I have. I've yet to experience showstopper bugs or anything of the sort, and also having other stuff by Apple just means I get a well working ecosystem to work with. Some people say they're trapped in the ecosystem, but I prefer to think of it as having firmly lodged myself in it and not letting go. Until such time that I have to, that is.

But the way things are going that's not going to be anytime soon. Now if I could only convince my employer to switch the whole office to mac OS..

I transitioned from Windows to MacOS a few months ago, and it's been enjoyable thus far. I have an iPhone, so it makes sense to use a Mac. I love the fact that I can send and receive calls/texts on my laptop. Furthermore, I live in a city that has two Apple Stores, so I know that I'm sorted with excellent customer service should I have any problems in the future. One word to sum it all up : Ecosystem.

One thing that I absolutely hated about my Windows laptop was the constant updates and stupid driver problems that I never have to deal with again on a Mac. I feel that I also need some sort of anti-virus software running in the background when I'm using Windows. Everything is just 'cleaner' on MacOS, IMO.

But you can run Windows or macOS on a PC, so that's not really a perk :)
*gasp* A mod condoning piracy? ;):D The typical end-users don't have the technical wherewithal to build a hack. :)

Surprised no-one mentioned the Virus thing. There's, what, two trojans that you have to be a complete idiot to invoke?

I feel like Apple make's devices that last, for example i have a 2011 MacBook Pro that still works to this very day! if it wasn't for me wanting to upgrade, it would probably last for a few years more. Also the experience with Apple products is just brilliant, from the moment i opened my MacBook Pro (in August of 2011) it has worked flawlessly.

I must confess that i also own other Apple products, iPhone 7 Plus, iPad Pro (12.9") iMac 2012 and a Apple Watch, and altho they are different products, they have still offered me the same great experience straight out of the boxes.

Personally i think MacOS on top of great hardware that is controlled by Apple is the key, even on my 2011 MacBook Pro i have Sierra and it works great, no problems (as of yet), obviously i don't get all the latest features, such as being able to unlock my Mac with my Apple Watch, but apart from that i have no complaints with any of my Apple hardware.

Side note: yes i'm aware that the above sounds very Apple fan-boyish  but i have to be honest and that is my experience so far inside of the Apple ecosystem :)

But you can run Windows or macOS on a PC, so that's not really a perk :)

Running a hackintosh isn't quite the same as bootcamp....nor is it officially supported

For the crowd that isn't the type to build a PC and figure out how to use hackintosh/doesn't care to do that, but is going to buy an Apple laptop and throw windows on there, it's arguably a perk

Terminal is very fun and functional. For example, the ability to use the Home Brew package manager and Cask is very cool - at least to me. I don't know of anything comparable on windows machines, although I'm sure there is something.
