In what ways is the iPhone the Ferrari of smart phones?

Does it have the same market share as Ferrari?
Does Google own Apple like Fiat own Ferrari?

You need to compare similar phones to do a real comparison between iOS and android. ie: SGIII vs iPhone 5

With that comparison, iPhone is seems to be doing really well. :)

OK, so Android may have more malware.. but the important statistic is - how many users have been affected?

If its a minimal percentage, then so what? Non story. FUD.

As I have been saying all along Android blows iOS away
this is just another example. Look how much more malware you get
and its free. I just put my iPhone up for sale today. Good news since the resale value of the iPhone blows away Samsung phones I should be able to buy 3 or 4 with the money from my iPhone.
Also since the battery on the galaxy 3 last a good hour or two unless you shut off every feature of the phone. I can buy three of them that should last me a whole day

Just saying

Looking through this, appears that the majority of vulnerabilities are for people in countries who don't have access to the play store. Most of the others are from installing shady apps that you would never ever touch if you had any common sense. Hence not a concern for me.

Basically it all looks like Apple is attempting some scare-mongering in attempts to stem their decline: 'Oh, look Android is dangerous - even though Samsung and Google are the ones innovating right now, I better just stick with my iDevice.'

As usual, this comes down to what F-Secure defines as "Malware" on Android. If their definition is as ludicrously loose as most other companies then these figures are meaningless.

Only to those who want a challenge. Most would probably want the easy way, so they will try and attack Android first.

The last time I looked, you only had to surf to jailbreakme.com in Apple's Safari to get your phone jailbroken without any further interaction.

We have a saying here in Germany: When you sit in a glass house, you shouldn't throw stones...

But it's amazing that this childish behavior of an Apple executive still works so well with the fans. Bill Gates never did anything like this in public.

I still don't understand how they could make Android from Linux and mess it up so badly as far as security is concerned.

Because Linux is not a secure OS or even an OS at all. It's just a kernel. And security generally takes a backseat priority-wise with Linux IMHO.

Linux has a reputation for security because A.) it is hard to install stuff you don't want to and B.) most Linux people are much more knowledgable about computers and don't do dumb things. Android has these problems because it's easy to install anything in Android and its user base is the general public, not just skilled computer folks.

Of course, the vast majority of Android malware consists of trojans, which the iOS and OS X people have strenuously defended as not really counting.
