I don't believe this is true...
It's not marvel comics adamantium.

In the real universe, everything scratches. Everything. Some will scratch less easily, but if you wear something and use it daily, it in turn will wear. Pretty much a law of nature, due to entrophy. :)

How do diamonds fit in with entropy?

No question. Seems more noticeable on the Black Stainless. Must be a very weak anodizing process. :apple:

The Space Black stainless steel has a DLC coating not anodizing like the aluminum models. That's just lint in the photo.

Can steel and/or stainless steel be anodized?

Steel and stainless steel can’t be anodized; the process baths used to anodize aluminum will attack and dissolve steel parts. Your parts need to be completely stripped of any steel otherwise the steel will be damaged during the process.

Nice.

I like this Yankees score more though:

Tim Cook has a stainless as well (although the silver one, usually with a white sport band). Of course either of these guys could have the edition, but not everybody wants a gold watch.

And (to reply to myself) somehow the optics would not be very good if all of the top executives only wore the super-expensive gold editions of the watches.

People seem really paranoid about scratching the Black SS. I have a Black Armani watch, and I wear it often but im cautious and aware of things when I have it on, I just wish Apple had done a Ceramic watch.... My armani hasn't got a single scratch, and i've had it for years!

Yeah ceramic is the way to go if you want scratch proof. I had a ceramic pilots watch which was hard as diamond!

I agree, my wedding ring is zirconia and is immaculate even though it has taken some punishment.

Yes it will. That's an incorrect statement ! It's more scratch resistant , but DLC worn as a daily watch will scratch. I own one. It shows wear, much better than PVD

Do you see him trying to scratch the panerai watches? No, if it was ceramic he would be scratching the watches . Don't trust what you see on YouTube. One would come to a conclusion iPhone 6 plus iPhones bend really easily if they trusted you tube

Yes I take your point on that, but my point is that we don't see any steel being revealed underneath the scratches, and since we are talking about DLC on stainless, it should be a pretty good example of how DLC behaves when it is mated with a metallic base.

Still trying to decide which of my 2 orders to cancel, so watching anything to do with DLC on an Watch very carefully... If DLC offers no advantage over 317 Stainless, then I probably won't pay an extra £400 to have it.

Have you seen both in an Apple Store ? I was sold on the black until I saw it in the flesh , the black SS looked kinda cheap, maybe it was not dark enough , the silver SS looked much better and everyone agreed. The best Looking in my opinion was the silver SS with bracelet, my work mates aslo thought so.
