I skimmed the thread so I apologize if this has been addressed.

How many bridges do you have and how many devices are on each?

I've removed most of my Hue lights and replaced them with normal LED bulbs and smart switches. Over the course of doing this I noticed improved performance of the Hue app. Now that I only have 1 bridge with 6 bulbs it launches near instantly and never crashes. All my automations and scenes are done through the Apple Home app, so I don't really have a reason to open the Hue app.

Point is, in my experience loading and managing tons of devices introduces a bottleneck somewhere that manifest in the app.
Yeah it is a lot of Hue products. My whole house is lighted by Hue. Should be a strong Zigbee mesh though. I would think the more the better in this case.

I previously had eight V2 bridges with each not exceeding 50 lights and leaving room for a little growth. Plus they were strategically placed for the best Zigbee mesh

Now I’m at three Pro Bridges but nowhere near the cap on each. I had this app issue with the V2 Bridges and now the Pro Bridges and it coincided with an app update, about two updates ago.

Yes, what I was saying is the bridge(s) and app needs to process the data for a ton of devices to update and refresh the apps information. Not sure for you case that is just what I experienced.

I kind of skimmed the thread. Did you contact Philips?

Yep… first they told me to reset every single bulb. So I did them one better and upgraded to the Bridge Pro (not migrated, I did a fresh install of everything) so that automatically comes with a bulb reset. I factory reset everything and installed a new system from scratch. Issue still persisted so I went back to Hue Support. Their reply?- reset every bulb 🤣. Useless is putting it lightly.

I wouldn’t say this is widespread but there are others reporting this same issue with the iOS Hue app on Reddit.

There was an update to the Hue app yesterday that seemed to fix this issue. Going good so far.
I think it made things worse on my end. Lockes up more often and quicker + I thought it fixed my issues with scenes but it turns out after 10-15 minutes the lights that are on suddenly change color. When I check the app I can change them back but 10-15 minutes later they revert back. I'm using the Hue "Bright" scene to test with nothing custom.

I wonder if it has to do with still using multiple Bridges? Maybe I should try using the updated migration feature and place all my Hue devices under one Bridge Pro?

Interesting. My app slows down a bit while scrolling off the network but not freezing up anymore. The biggest thing was the app would guaranteed freeze after opening another app but that’s not happening anymore either.

An update: I decided to migrate my other v2 Bridge to the new Bridge Pro so everything in the house is on the new Bridge Pro (Finally). Everything carried over just fine including Apple Home and Home Assistant. Pulled the power and let the new Bridge Pro start up on the network fresh. (hardwired)

Since removing all the old bridges the Hue App has worked perfect, no crashes, no stutters, No delays nothing........
Seems all the issues I was having were related to having two v2 Bridges or one v2 Bridge running together with the Pro.

That’s great news bud.

I've noticed since the last software update (beginning of this tread) the Hue app does not play well or like Apples adaptive lighting. The adaptive lighting seems to cause the Hue app to hang up. If you leave it on or off it handles it fine but if you change it then return to the Hue app it hangs.

(So in short) If I leave the adaptive lighting alone in the Apple Home app the Hue app works just fine.

The Hue app has been glitching, hanging, freezing, crashing for me for a few months now, adaptive lighting or not. Very frustrating especially when it happens in the middle of adding lights.
