How did people survive with a normal toothbrush for so many years lol this is so stupid
Mmmmm... that kind it applies to everything? Imagine you saying a couple years back "how did people survive all these years without a cell phone if we had regular phones... so stupid"... it is not that stupid... me, I will be getting one of these for a disease I have that I can'f forget to brush and I have to brush equally in every border of my mouth (is not that bad, but bad enough).

That cup is so useless, the sonicare brushes already had inductive charging docks. Just buy 10 years worth of Dixie cups and you’ll be paying less than this.

I am using one of the lower end Sonicare models and wished that I would be more patient and just pony up for this!

As a tech geek and someone who wants to take better care of his teeth thanks to a root canal treatment, every bit helps in guiding me to taking the best care of my teeth

I have this product and it's pretty awesome. There are a lot of little improvements compared to the standard diamond clean. I like that it automatically detects what type of brush head you put on and changes to that mode. I also enjoy having 6 total quadrants, 3 on top and 3 on bottom, instead of the standard four with a beep after 30 seconds. This results in less scrubbing and better coverage for me, especially when I'm following on the app. I don't think it's worth $329, but it will come down quickly in price.

Well, it's a better concept than that "smart cup" MR reported on a year or so ago. That thing was a heavily overpriced beta test that had so many restrictions, it actually had less "features" than a normal cup. At least this is well thought out.

I already patented smart toilet paper dispenser. " you have used way too much paper so you are not wiping correctly, you have used two trees so far this year"

When we get to the point of apps interconnected with toilets, I'm thinking it may be time to go find another planet.

I'm sure its closer than we think. Lift toilet lid, exhaust fan turns on. Upon completion, a complete analysis of your fecal matter with notifications to your phone and primary care physician. Auto flush when exiting bathroom using iBeacons. Automated air quality sensors will keep the exhaust fan running for you until it's 'safe' in there.

Hahaha why is this news? I can't even remember how many years toothbrushes have been using inductive charging, and this must be Sonicarss third or fourth brush with an inductive charging glass!

Nothing new at all, and I believe the app idea has already been done by Oral B too.

Meh, Sonicare are nice but overpriced.

Chipped brush heads? This could be used as a way to combat 3rd party brush heads and enforce timely replacement. Sort of like ink cartridges or coffee pods.

Sorry to tell you this but Philips has had the inductive charging cup for years. I've been charging my diamondclean black edition this way since 2014.

Yep, I had the cup charger for the Diamond, but that model doesn't last very long. The quality of Sonicare toothbrush models continues a downward trend. I've been using them for at least 12-years, and they last an average 14-18 months, The newest Diamond is only good for about 12-months based on my experience. Poor quality for the price, but I believe it's by design$. I still use them because they are small and simple to hold. It wouldn't take much for some other company to beat them if they wanted to.

I can think of no finer idea than a drinking glass connected to an electrical outlet. If only it was big enough to also hold my hair dryer.

I can think of something finer: remove all regular outlets from your bathrooms and update with GFCI outlets. Then you won't have to worry about chargers, hair dryers, or any other AC device. Do it this week. Then ask yourself: WTF didn't you do this years ago?

THIS iteration is ridiculous. But Sonicare, Oral-B regular are fantastic. They are much more efficient at removing plaque, tartar, and massaging gums than a manual toothbrush.

Given your logic why do we need any tech at all. Man survived thousands of years with no tools at all. But it's not about survival is it? It's about excelling beyond that low bar.

Same can be said for the iPhone itself nobody needs one. They've become very useful and handy things but mankind has been around a lot longer without them then with them.
