If you go to the apple website and save an order, and leave it there for a while, Apple will call you up and ask if you still want the product. Same thing goes for Applecare, at least they are letting your know its running out, and that you can get another 3 years worth for signing up again. Otherwise, applecare goes out, you Mac goes down, and you say, "Crap, my Applecare ran out! Why didn't they tell me!" So don't complain that Apple is trying to show they care, and notice you on their radar screen as a potential customer or returning one.

Actually, you'll only get 2 years tacked onto the end of the standard 1-year warranty. Regardless of when you purchase/activate Applecare, the longest that your Mac will be protectected is 3 years.

I just got this call and it is Apple. After the call I called the normal support lines and confirmed it is valid. The 3 year AppleCare support I purchased for my G5 is 3 more years for a total of four years from D.O.P.

Are you sure about this? You better check all of your documentation to see if you have that in writing. If it is true, then you have a better deal than others.

You are right. In many states it does not matter what you are told, but what is written.
