Just put firewire in the 13" already, slap a Pro label on it, and call it a frickin day! This thing looks like hell.

that so is a chinese knockoff. apple is leaving white plastics behind. They have one product left that is made of all plastic. Why would they make another?
They are, but not for all products. Just like the cheapest $999 MB, I think that a MacBook Mini (they've never call it a Netbook) would fall into the prohibitively expensive category for the lower price point and net profit for a cheaper machine.

regular macbook+ out of proportion ruler+ logo lamification
That was my first guess, too.

Unless Apple are just waiting to say "MUHAHAHA - We made the cheapest netbook EVER!":p

I could believe it if it weren't for two things...

1. The logo is like the glass, reflective logo I think they only use on the iPhone/Touch boot screen. I don't see them using it here because it's ass ugly.

2. Apple's moving away from plastics. No matter what their new product is (netbook, teblet, etc.) I feel like they're going to use the unibody design they have a manufacturing boner over :)

I certainly don't buy this. I don't think Apple would go back to using a plastic enclosing on notebooks... it would certainly hamper their 'green' initiative. However, the logo gave it away. Not to mention the ventilation on the back that's absent from all of the modern notebooks. It's a fake.

ah

Probably fake, but I would think the white plastic would make it cheaper? Maybe cheaper entry models (like the mac mini) will keep some of the white style alive?

Fake proof :

Notice the left corner vs. the right corner. The left corner has a flat surface on the edge. The right corner does not.

As for number 2. Don't be so sure. Apple will stick with plastics if it keeps the price low. Unibody is expensive compared to plastics and if Apple is going to release a netbook at low price that won't take away sales from macbook, they will probably stick with plastics.

i just can't see it happening.

though apple has been up for surprises in the past.

Let's see, how many "photoshoped" pictures have shown up here lately and later turned out to be real?

I'm just going to stay quiet on this one and I'll wait until we actually have a product.

Not buying it

Sorry, looks way too much like a fake for me to take seriously.

The logo doesn't even look possible! I don't think there's anything they could actually put on a computer to produce the effect shown in the image. That, and it's way too easy to change the relative size of the current macbook and a ruler in photoshop, way too easy.

This thing looks like something the AidenShaws and BMWfans and other Apple-bashers on this site would use (and rave about). In other words: cheap...cheesy...FAKE.
