Kayes, that's a lovely shot! Where do you take your butterfly macros?
hi there, glad you like the shotThere is a butterfly farm near where I live. Just 15 mins away by car.
You ask for C & C... so here goes...
I don't understand why you tilted the camera. I don't understand why more than half the image is occupied by an undistinguished stretch of Tarmac. I don't understand why you chopped off half the casino entrance (top right), but included a bit of railing (bottom left). It's presumably the composition you wanted, as it seems you used a tripod. So I'm![]()
It was set on a bench. I am obviously not a pro. I thought it was a nice picture. In the fall i plan on starting at the university for photography. So im just trying to get as familiar with my camera and learn as much on my own.
Don't be so defensive. You asked for C & C. If you're going to university, to study photography, be prepared to hear opinions that don't coincide with your own...

And beg, borrow or steal a tripod...![]()
I was going to say pretty much the same thing. As the saying goes, be careful what you ask for...![]()
Best ale under the sun...

Cat ninja! lol. Taken with a Nikon D80. Still need to do some work with the lighting.
It looks as though the focus is behind the biker. Also, the blown-out sky and strong directional lines and ornamentation of the architecture detract from the subject. Perhaps a more shallow DOF would have helped.
