This is one of a large and diverse group of spiders called Orb Weavers after the type of webs they spin. They are very common in the MidWest where I grew up. We called them Garden Spiders and almost every garden had one. They are harmless to humans (and artists, as well)...

A cannon inside a building?! Okay, you gotta give us the background on this one![]()
Major improvement over the first shoot of this tower. I really like the colors of the sky and how they contrast with the rigid lines of the tower.
^^^ Very nice... and etherial. As the pic appeared, my eye went straight to the figure; though small it creates a completely different 'narrative'. I'd be tempted to increase the mood of mystery and isolation by cropping out the other figure, far left...

Great timing with this one. It has great conceptual force; it seems as if he's longing to escape his manmade prison, head turned to the gods in supplication. It's great how the light is filtering through the foliage and picking out key parts of him as well.

I was just about to say the same exact thing, and then I spotted your comment below the photo. I love the inclusion of the figure near the sun, so small, yet so 'legible' and given so much visual weight in the frame by virtue of being so distinct against the bright sky. Further exploration of the photo leads one to spot the second figure in the left margin, and that one is just distracting attention away from the main figure. My first thought was to clone out the second figure, but a crop would probably work just as well. At any rate, it's a very compelling photo. Well done, Reef!![]()
