Yesterday when I was working outside I saw this beautiful tree and there was a beautiful clear blue sky, so here it is🙂
I hope it’s ok?

Middle Piney Lake Sunrise, Jim Bridger National Forest, South West WY.
What I recall most vividly was the long drive in on rough gravel roads. As I got close to the lake there was a long uphill stretch and about every 50 feet a squirrel would dash across the road, typically they would come within inches of one of my wheels. I believe the subspecies was; Squirellus Suicideus.

I usually don't post photos of people, specially of family and friends as this one. Ian was his name, my loving son who passed away on Saint Patricks Day at the age of 38. I was lucky enough to take this impromptu photo of Ian a few years ago when he was grilling hamburgers for his coworkers on a rainy day. He was my oldest son.
Such a poignant and also exceptional image. I am so sorry for your incredible loss. Thank you very much for sharing this with us.

yesterday's visit to Luke AFB was deafening.
We were working on a hospital in Fort Smith Arkansas right after 9/11. The local airport was 1/2 military and 1/2 commercial. 2 F-15's took off every 1/2 hour to patrol the eastern seaboard. Talk about loud. Plus we had our car searched every time we had to fly. On our return trip, we had to take regional airplane to Dallas, then regular flight to Chicago, then home to Rochester. Long flights both ways. I distinctly remember this young military girl patrolling the concourse in Dallas with her rifle. Didn't even look old enough.

Yeah, back then we had an F-15 going full afterburner low over our house - it had just taken off on an intercept of an unidentified aircraft on the coast. I thought we were going to lose some windows.

People went a little bonkers after that day. I lived near the WTC on 9/11, had tanks rolling down the streets and military checkpoints to get anywhere near my house. Oddly though, I saw not one military jet, or can't recall seeing any, it's a bit of a blur now. Lotsa heavily armed soldiers though

It was a strange time. I was working with NATO forces at the time and there was tremendous uncertainty about what the real threat level was - and uncertainty over what form the expected US military reaction would be. But at that point, there was 100% support for the US - NATO deployed AWACS aircraft to the US for overflight protection for the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City, part of the first invocation of NATO Charter Article 5 on mutual support for NATO members.

Eastern State Penitentiary was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world, but stands today in ruin, a haunting world of crumbling cellblocks and empty guard towers. Its vaulted, sky-lit cells held nearly 85,000 people over its long history, including bank robber "Slick Willie" Sutton and "Scarface" Al Capone.

r.harris1 and fcortese, thank you for your support. Much appreciated!
Something else relating to cameras: I took that and other photos of Ian with a Canon 7D years ago, and now that I have "supposedly better cameras" with all kinds of bells and whistles, none of these will allow me to capture a better image than the one I took with a "lesser" camera. The saying that, 'the best camera is the one at hand at the moment" is always true.

The F-35 aircraft are incredibly loud, too, a lot more than the F-16.
