First time seeing a Chuck-Will’s-Widow. Was eating lunch at picnic table in Everglades. Saw a woodpecker through the brush, walked around trail for better angle and this startled me jumping up in my path. Had to run back, grab phone for Merlin ap to identify.

A "you had to be there" picture. This is Nellie (or her feet). She started out in the lower left (which has some sorta-kinda areas in focus) but by the time I pulled the trigger - blame the photographer! - she was in the upper left, chasing after her human. She'd come up thinking I might be interesting, but alas (and sadly), I'm not, so she was quickly on her way .View attachment 2504774

I had the first Nikon CoolPix digital, paid over $900 for it. Had the same problem, by the time it decided to take the picture, the kids were in the next room. So disgusted with it, gave it to my son and bought the Olympus E-10 which I love. Felt like and shot like a 35mm SLR.

Found these bushes behind my physics classroom at uni.

I also found a hidden mandarin orange tree in the middle of these bushes in the field.
