Many years ago I fell in love with photography and bought my first "real" camera, a Minolta X-700. Over the next decade, people conspired to ruin my enjoyment of taking photos (long story), so I sold my gear and pretty much walked away. I've dabbled off and on since then, but never had the time to devote to learning the craft. Because of the ubiquity of cell phone cameras I'm starting to feel the return of that itch, so I've invested a bit in myself to see if I can light the fire again.

With thanks to @cjsuk and @OldMacs4Me for sharing their positive thoughts on the Z 50 series.

My problem was actually the opposite. People liked my photos for the most part, so I was thrust into the role of official photographer for everything, mostly at my own expense (this was in the film/development days). I was never able to just enjoy a moment or event without someone scrambling for me to do their work of capturing their moment for them, so in a fit of frustration I sold my gear and walked away.

Now, thanks to cell phones everyone has a camera, and I'm free to explore at MY will. But I reserve the right to post marginal photos here ;) Thank you for your kind words.
Three little words to remember if it starts happening again: No, I'm sorry.

If all else fails: I used to use a Canon 5DII until it got too heavy to carry around, or should I say, until I got weak enough it became too heavy for me, I was forever being asked on holiday if I would take people's photos on their phone/camera or whatever. Since I started taking only my Fuji X100F or previously the X-E1 which are much smaller but take photos of the same quality, people's perceptions are such that I've never been asked since!😁😁😁

I do adhere to your three little words philosophy now, for sure. I've changed a lot in the last three decades. Back then, it was my new in-laws who were the worst offenders (which put me in a tough spot), and I still enjoyed photography enough to overcome my frustrations. But it got old over the course of a few years, as most irritating things do!

I love the smaller camera idea and people's perception of it. Maybe I should grab a Ricoh GR III just in case! :)
