I hope so! I'm glad it has your approval  I've read a few composition books before - just re-reading them now - then I'm going to see what Lynda's photography courses are like!

If anyone has any composition books that they've read that they thought were brilliant, I'd love to hear about them - Christmas is coming up ...

You've probably read Brian Petterson, but I found this one useful.

Oh cool! I've read Understanding Exposure by him and it was brilliant! Not about composition though, so I'll give this one a try! Thanks!

Thats the one I was going to recommend too. A much more detailed book for later on is The Photographer's Eye by Michael Freeman.

One more I like, more about seeing than composition, is extraordinary everyday photography by Brenda Tharp and Jed Manwaring

Love it! What are the EXIF fields: Camera, ISO, Focal Length, Shutter/Aperture and Lens?

Thanks mate. Sorry I forgot I left this off.

It was taken on a 7D with a 17-40 f/4 L at 26mm. The exposure settings are: -

13 sec at f/20, ISO 100 with manual focus.

Great! Can you give a few more detail how you captured that excellent shot?

Thanks... Love to share... I setup the tripod next to the railing and tried different exposures on different passing vehicles until I got something I liked. In this shot, it's a 10 sec. exposure at f/13 at 100 ISO. The purple lights are from a bus that passed through the frame during the exposure.
