Well deserved attention, John! Bravo! ;)

Thanks, it's pretty exciting!

Now ya done it... The Inernetz has you!

Nice to see you are having a fantastic life. You deserve it.

Dale

Thanks Dale! I can even walk without a cane these days too! In the spring I'll start working on rebuilding my strength again.

From the weekend....

Hi folks, a bit of a newbie to this section of the forums. Thought I'd post a photo I took at a Rugby game on Saturday over here in the UK.... :)

Belated congrats, John. Are you still making your truck run through Montana? Here's mine for today, from Cottonwood, AZ; a renovated old Texaco gas station that is now a hamburger joint. Replete with an old Plymouth parked out front.

I had to: the lens wouldn't reach from here... :p

Spooky. Is it Halloween already? :)

Northampton museum

I went to Northampton museum to look at the reconstructed head of King Richard III but the display wasn't very good for taking photos. It was in a glass show case and the room lights were on but not the exhibit lights so I had a wander around and came across this:

I was pretty excited to see the notification for this in my email this evening

Well done and well deserved if I may say so! :)

^^ LOL! :D

Thanks for the advice, it's always welcome. I'll have a play and post again tomorrow.

Blimey, Northampton museum has upped it's game since I last visited it!

Another one taken in Birmingham the other day. By this time the rain was really coming down, so I just used my iPhone (refused to get the DSLR wet!). Tweaked it a bit in LR.
I wanted to get a shot of the domes as I used to work for the company that made them. Two guys spun them all by hand. Brian & John's legacy.

You're so lucky to live somewhere that has them in the wild like that.

Very fortunate indeed MacRy.

I can't get enough of these birds.

I hope you're still staying that this time next year oblomow...365 owl shots later. :)

The dimension to the wings is phenomenal, this is a doozie of a capture, Peter.

Thanks Alex. They have an average wingspan of about 150 cm and, under all those feathers, a relatively small body size and mass. This means they fly with extraordinary silence.

Very nice owl. I'd have this framed if it was mine.

Thanks AFB, I'll probably do that but it may be one of the other shots.

Peter, I am really enjoying this owl series you have been posting. Here's another shot of Cathedral Rock from my recent trip to Sedona and northern AZ. My angle of view was limited by the fact that Oak Creek was running high and fast and my knees told me they wouldn't cooperate if I tired to cross over to get a better composition. :(

Something different for today.

I got to my underwater GoPro footage and sliced off a few stills. This was shot with no additional lights, and even after some long experimentations in Photoshop, the colours are quite a bit off, but this was 20m deep, so there is only so much you can do.

This is my scuba diving instructor playing with a venomous lion fish. Way to show off his excellent buoyancy control skills :)

Hi LumbermanSVO,

First, congratulations on this accomplishment – well done.

Second, and take this with a grain of salt (pun intended) because I don't do studio shots (in a truck or out of one), I don't do food shots and I really don't do much with artificial light but I do like to eat...:)

The shot above looks almost too well and too evenly lit. To me it has an almost sterile feel. I wonder if a bit of strategically placed subtle shadow would add some dramatic flair and culinary appeal.

There are some interesting things in there, though it's quite small. I'm going to go back in later this week and try landscape mode instead.

Nice to see the sunshine again in your photo! I like pictures of interesting details. :)

The only thing I remember from it is the elephant's shoe.

The only thing I got to shoot today was from out of the window at work to test my newly purchased Vivitar 28mm 2.8 lens I bought at lunchtime.
